Maybe if companies do more outsourcing, hire more H1B’s and illegal aliens, then what used to be their employees can mentor youth full time.

Evita Peron...I read an in-depth article a few months ago about what the Perons did in Venezuela.
Horrifying...and I see many of the same tricks being tried here.
Michelle may see herself as another Evita and may be trying to follow in her footsteps. However, she lacks the charisma...think Princess Di-type charisma...thank God or we would be in worse trouble.

I volunteer at my daughter’s school once a week - on my day off! Why the heck would my boss want to pay me to be someplace that doesn’t help her business in any way?

The budget for CNCS has grown from 927.1 million in 2005 to $1,149,721,000 in 2010. Obama requested a budget of $1,415,586,000 for 2011, but the Senate reduced the amount to $1,365,586,000.
Here's an idea. Let's take the entire CNCS agency and make everybody in it, and everybody who supplies it Volunteer Only. That would cut the budget for it down from 1.4bil to $0 and allow them to keep overseeing their wonderful government-sponsored "volunteering".

She’s a low-class grifter like Evita, though.

Has she ever managed an office full of people in her life? She was a highly compensated hospital administrator.

a new program that asks U.S. businesses to allow employees to spend part of the work day volunteering with young people
Thanks to her socialist husband, most U.S. businesses have pared back their workforces and are struggling to stay afloat. They do not have the flexibility -- even if they wanted to -- to pay their workers for not working.
This is nothing more than a way for state workers to get more time off during the day. Expect "short staffing" at every government office while state employees are out volunteering (in their own backyards, at the beach, at a bar, at a tennis court, etc.).

Until they are imprisoned or un-elected.
I suppose they don’t have things like Junior Achievement in wookieville where mabelle comes from. Companies already do spend time mentoring the yoots.
the mentoring I got was being told by my parents that I needed to get a job, find someone that was working and successful then go out and imitate what he did. Simple. This has been a successful formula for eons.
Of course we didn’t all grow up with programs funded by the taxpayer to help us get equality nor did we have a quota slot waiting for us.
the first wookie needs to stick to her knitting and leave us the hell alone!
I hate these people. I have no civility for them. I hate them with every scrap of my being.

I did too. Mostly a waste of time. Few success stories from the inner city schools we worked in. Limited work ethic, no family background, no role models and low motivation.
I had my own kids to raise and wasn’t very motivated to take the time to drive into the ghetto to deal with the sad sacks there. That was 20 years ago. I wouldn’t even consider it now.
No, I don’t have a responsibility for them. I’m eaten up with taxes for scores of worthless programs that have not made the situation one scintilla better over the 50 years of the “great society”. All the taxes and programs have done is to enable these “people” to continue their bad behavior. Now, TRILLIONS of dollars later we just have more of the same.

However, she lacks the charisma. The press keeps trying to remedy that by hysterically attempting to convince us she's a super-classy, Halle Berry-grade looker.

sheesh....I'm still trying to swallow the fact that we have a Government Agency to oversee volunteerism....
How about a Government Agency to oversee keeping the 1st Lady out of everyone's business ????

The program will be run by the federal agency tasked with overseeing volunteerism in the United States.
Step Two will require the businesses who are mentoring
someone else's children to file endless paperwork and
reports detailing who, what, when, where, why and how,and
what the objectives for the next reporting are, how they
will be accomplished, what the projections for resources
and expenditures relating to the mentoring will be. And
a commitment in writing that the mentorees will be taught
mmmmm, mmmmm, mmmmm, Obama during the fiscal year.
Part two of the report will require the same information
for the previous reporting period.
Part two should come first, but the federal government
always does things backwards.

Part Three comes when the Democrat Trial Lawyer sues the employee and the corporation when the mentored kid falsely claims sexual abuse.
Just another fabulous government program where everybody wins!!!!
