GRAVILLE -- School administrators are investigating a young student's "kill list" containing the names of 62 schoolmates in the Granville Central School District. Police say the 12-year-old girl confessed to writing the list. She has been charged with misdemeanor aggravated harrassment, and was suspended from school for five days. The schools Superintendent Mark Bessen tells CBS6, "It was a group of students that she felt made her life difficult in school or she felt she had issues with." He went on to say, "It's 2011. If you have a 'Kill List' you have to deal with it in a safe manner and have to be proactive to ensure the safety of all students." The seventh grader will attend a Superintendent's Hearing tomorrow where she could face further disciplinary charges.

George W. Bush and Sarah Palin must not have been on the list since the administration isn’t standing up for her.
Arrest- no. Counselling- yes!
If someone wrote a “kill list” containing the names of 62 Congressman, they would be in deep do-do.
Not sure why those 62 school children’s lives should not have the same value as 62 Congressman.
Any idea what state this is in?
If it were an adult, I agree that might be a problem, but we’re talking about a kid.
Just a year or so ago, a fifteen-year-old girl killed a nine-year-old girl in cold blood in Jefferson City, MO, because, she said, she wanted to know what it felt like to kill someone. Pretty creepy. And there have been school shooting, so you certainly have good reason for your view.
However, this appears to be more a case of zero-tolerance gone wild. A sensible administrator would have called the kid into the office and talked to her about it, explained why it was of concern, and, perhaps, gotten her some counseling or, better, urged her parents to address her issues.
Plus I just have a possibly irrational hatred of school administrators. :)
