That is a perfect example of the strategy of isolation and deception. I can’t stand them.

We talk of going to college as a natural occurrence from kindergarten on. All of our classrooms are represented by a college and the students in that room learn the college chant. Twice a month, we gather as a school for "Friday Flag" in which the entire school says the flag salute and some kids perform those college chants.

The college chant?

These days, colleges are evil socialist places that teach the art of getting so drunk that the orgy seems normal.

The college cheer then. The point is the our kids are taught that if they want to get a good job, they need to go to college and if they want to go to college they need to work in school.

We stress that the student's job is school.....no excuses. So even if you don't think much of college, it's helped my kids get great jobs and they are still ultra conservative.

We all know this just isn't true. You're "chanting" or "cheering" for the the wrong side.

So you don’t think kids should go to college to get better paying jobs?

Thanks for the post. This is from 2003, but still relevant, I’m sure, today:

Thank you for your thoughtful post.

It encompasses everything I had suspected. I would encourage you to make it more public to Christianity Today, your local reps, members of Congress, and pastors throughout the nation.

Resistnet, which has strong ties to the Tea Party, has a watch group on this issue.

Blessings.

Well by all means explain it to me....

I said: it's (meaning college) helped my kids get great jobs and they are still ultra conservative.

To which you replied: We all know this just isn't true.

Tell me just what isn't true.

You are so RIGHT! I have a BA, but I have learned more from the internet in the last few years as a hobby than I learned in all my school years.

The schools are focusing so much on Math/Science Technology that the average kids are left hanging. They dropout and end up on welfare. I’m seeing this every day in GED class. Our class is full of under 30 young people who don’t have a clue about work.

Who is going to dig ditches, climb power poles, do small engine repair, etc? They are pushing everyone to get a degree and expect a fortune for a starting salary. Then, these young people do not want to do an ordinary job.

I was taught economics, consumer math, and bookkeeping in high school. These became unimportant until the recent credit crisis. Some states are realizing the failure and bringing them back.

I’ve seen kids with HS diplomas who can’t read. I’m seeing more and more community colleges literally selling degrees. By this, I mean little is required in the classes. Nurses are training for one year and then put right into a cardiac care unit. Some are taking nursing classes online.

It appears the political people running our education system don’t have a clue about the real world.

This thread is not about nutty liberal teachers like you who think chanting is good for little kids.

Get over to DU where you can spout your liberal crap instead of trying to TROLL here.

TROLL ALERT!

That’s ridiculous. My younger son went to college, never got drunk, never participated in an orgy and has a great job, because he went to college. He’s also conservative.

Not all kids behave poorly in college. Not all kids need to go to college but often times in order to get into certain fields it is necessary.

If your son is okay, then there is nothing to talk about, right?

You are hysterical! Our school gets kids excited about school and going to college and that makes me a lib?

I guess when one doesn't know what they're talking about they yell troll. I work at a conservative school but you haven't understood a single thing I've said today so go back to your wine and hope your hangover isn't too bad tomorrow.

BTW, it's really, really funny that you have no idea what a college chant/cheer is.

A conservative schools wouldn’t do what you claim.

You are uniformed and hurting children because of it.

You are obviously trolling FR because conservatives know the truth about “chanting” and the brainwashing liberals are doing in public schools.

And besides all that, you’re a nasty mean girl.

Many Students Learn Little to Nothing in College. Surprise?
