This is such a BS article. The State does not cite one single source for this.

Okay, I’m running. Reread the article, substituting upchuck for DeMint. Has just as much validity.

Yes. Jim DeMint has a lot of work to do.

I gave the domestic partner the DeMint test. If he hasn’t heard of someone, most people haven’t. He’s extremely conservative but not a wonk. He listens to sports stations.

Jim DeMint failed the DP test. The DP was vague about who he is.

I’m a Palin supporter but I would vote for a strong conservative if I thought the guy could stir up a following and create some enthusiasm for his candidacy.

That’s yet to be shown about DeMint.

Of course, if Sarah would throw her support behind him, it would be an incredible boost for him. But what does that say about him and about her?

It would make me jump for joy!

There are contradictory reports coming out of DeMint’s camp, but even that’s encouraging compared to what we were hearing just a few months ago.

The first debate is already scheduled for May 2nd. We really need at least two conservative candidates to step forward before then to drown out the three-part harmony that will be coming from Romney/Huckabee/Gingrich on that stage. A couple of actual conservatives need to represent so that faux conservatism can be exposed.

I’m keeping an open mind on DeMint. He’s right on the issues, but I’m generally cautious about senators as Presidential candidates. I want to see if he has what it takes to be a national leader for conservatives who can also get things done in Washington.

For what it’s worth, a big test for him in my eyes is how much he can do with his proposed balanced budget amendment. I certainly don’t expect him to get it passed in the Senate - though that would be one hell of a bonus - but I want to see how far he can take it. If it gets buried in committee and we never hear about it again, I’ll be awfully disappointed. If he can get it to the floor, make it a major topic of national discussion, and force both Democrats and Republicans in the Senate to go on record as being for or against it, DeMint will gain big-time points with me.

This is DeMint’s time to show us what he’s made of. We know he’s conservative. This year is when he shows us whether he’s ready for prime time.

I for one would like DeMint to stay in the Senate. The Senate is so chuck full of scheming collectivists that it needs the few sane members it has to stay right where they are.

Jeb Bush? Are you sure you’re in the right place!?!?!?! The man is NOT conservative. To mention him in the same breath as DeMint is crazy talk.

“Jeb Bush? Are you sure you?re in the right place!?!?!?!”

I have been for almost 11 years. I’m a Floridian, so I favor Jeb in 5 1/2 yrs. He’s a good man despite his last name.

Oh I see. A good man. There are lots of good men, but very few good conservatives.

Jeb Bush is not one of them. He's an elitist establishment Republican with more in common with Romney and Huckabee than Jim DeMint.
