The Dutch government has frozen all contacts with Iran in protest over the hanging of a Dutch-Iranian woman.
The Dutch foreign ministry said it was "shocked, shattered by this act by a barbaric regime".
Sahra Bahrami, aged 46, was hanged for drug smuggling early on Saturday, Iranian officials said.
Her family accuses Tehran of fabricating the case against her after she was detained for taking part in anti-government protests in 2009.

I thought the Dutch were more tolerant than that!
I have no problem with hanging drug smugglers, but with a regime like Iran’s, how can you have any confidence in a verdict?
I think the death penalty for drugs is appropriate. I wish in Europe (I am European) we would hang drug dealers. They cause more harm to people than anything else, in my opinion.
My dream is to move to the states, when Hussein is no longer president.
Arriving a little late to the party it seems.
I have serious doubts that she was a drug smuggler, since she was arrested at the time of the demonstrations. Drug smuggling, dealing & trafficking are the labels that the regime uses falsely all the time.
I have noticed that in the EUSSR they can tolerate anything except morality and Christianity.
>I wish in Europe (I am European) we would hang drug dealers.<
We don’t hang them in the US, either.
"I'm shocked, shocked I say, that an Islamic government would behave in a barbaric manner!
Europe is becoming a dictature. we are TOLD what to think.
Dare I disagree with the leadership of the EU, I risk prison.
Not allowed to have a mind of your own or voice your opinion anymore.
I understand that a ruling council was set up by the EU Parliament who are NOT even elected. I guess they know they can’t even count on the sheeple to keep voting for them. Just how bad do they plan to get that they don’t even trust the sheeple that put the EU into power in the first place??
I doubt that she was a drug dealer. This is a very easy charge to fabricate. She was obviously a political enemy of the current Iranian regime and had connections in Europe, so she had to go.
Iran has possibly the highest incidence of heroin use in the entire Middle East, and government officials actually make money on this trade.
It seems like it's intent on isolating itself from every country on the planet.
If the Iranians killed in her Holland then the Dutch would be busy making all kinds of excuses for them.
Note to Dutch: Don’t worry about Iran.Time to deport the Muslims in your country!
Takes a lot to convince the Dutch the Iranians are nutjobs,, doesn’t it?
Where TF have the Dutch BEEN for the last 30 years?
Oh, that’s right: they’ve legalized drug use - that explains a lot, really.
Once upon a time, the Dutch were a hard-working, effective people.
The Dutch foreign ministry said it was "shocked, shattered by this act by a barbaric regime".And this is just the phony war period! Just wait until the current dhimmi coalition running the Netherlands surrenders and votes in shariah law!
I’m going ot be blunt and state that the Euros have this bad habit of abdicating initiative and personal responsibility, always waiting for someone else to do what needs to be doing.
On the other hand, if such a person comes along, they just dismiss them (like they did Churchill) until a disaster like the Blitz happens. THEN they listen, but after the problem is over, they toss them aside and dismiss them again. No wonder the place is such a basket case.
You would think they noticced something was wrong wiht them when a Muslim headcase butchered Theo Van Gogh.
IF she was a REAL drug smuggler as the Iranian regime claims, I have little sympathy for her. Then again, the Iranian regime is known to often lie & hang people under false pretenses.
IF she did go to Iran as an Iranian born Dutch citizen to participate in protests of 2009 (a political event) or just on a simple trip, she should have known, and should have been advised by Dutch authorities that her trip to Iran was at her own risk.
It is well known to most that Iranian authorities DO NOT recognize Iranian born, or foreign born to Iranian parents, or to an Iranian father, as a dual citizen.
In Iran, the mentioned people are treated as IRANIAN (period). These people will be subject to full Iranian law while they are in Iran. The Dutch gov’t, in this case, and as far as I am aware, could not have done much at all.
BTW, she looks terrible in that photo. Looks as if she had major cosmetic surgery, lip & nose job at least.
> My dream is to move to the states, when Hussein is no longer president.
Let me assure you that I would welcome you with open arms.
I like the way you think, and we need more people like you over here participating.
I don’t agree that all drug smugglers should be killed but beside that there is the allegation that the charges were fabricated in return for her activity in an anti-government protest. Do you put no stock in that charge?
Have you seen the film or read the book No Country for Old Men ?
I tell young people that they do not know what drug use has done to this country, as they only know the country as it is, but this film will give a picture.
Drugs have destroyed families, often several generations, and the drug trade is in the process of destroying the country south of us.
Having said that, there is no juistice in Iran, the Mullahs are liars from Hell, and this woman's daughter has my deep sympathy.
Islam-the religion of peace!
Color me naive, but since when do Shiite mullahs in Iran have anything to do with, or say about, what Salafists and Wahhabist Sunnis do in Egypt?
Essentially they, the muslims, are all one big family. Killing infidels is their main occupation and sport. Turing the worls back to the middle ages is their goal. Between eposodes of diddling goats and young boys they keep on top of their game by killing each other and their women.
Jihadists don’t care where the money comes from and support those who support them.
