U.S. State Department spokeswoman Ms. Jacobs (missed her first name), speaking on CNN said that the U.S. government is chartering planes to evacuate Americans from Egypt, with the first flights scheduled to depart on Monday.
Jacobs urged those with tickets for commercial flights out of Egypt to use those tickets. She also said the State Dept. was bringing in more consular officials to help Americans in Egypt.
Jacobs asked people to not go to the airport yet. She said details would be announced later today.
Jacobs did not say anything about whether the U.S. embassy and consular offices would also be evacuated.

Who are they in danger from?
Seems to me that if Egypt were really on the threshold of democracy they would be safe. Mubarak hasn’t threatened them that I’m aware of.
Why should Americans leave Egypt now? I get the feeling that the worst is behind us and that Mohammed ElBaradei will be taking over in a day or two. If our people have made it through this long then they might as well stay on in Egypt.
And so it was, thirty years ago, during these very months past, that we stormed ministries, prisons and government buildings, sat down in school yards, refused to go to or teach classes, went on strike in factories, oil refineries and petrochemical plants, marched in the streets in hundreds, then thousands, and soon in hundreds of thousands.
The revolution had such a force that even in the most laidback towns, like Shiraz, people started taking to the streets in the tens and hundreds of thousands. In the famously mellow town of our beloved poets Sadi and Haafez, where martial law was declared last and lifted first, I saw hundreds of thousands in the streets and it was a sight to behold.

Hussein is clueless....just as Carter was clueless.
Obama and his administration are inept. The U.S. ambassador just said American citizens in Egypt should use the internet to get information on safety!
Yeah, that thing that’s been down since Tuesday.
What idiots. Carter Part Deux.
Do you really think a new Egyptian regime will be friendly to America?? Come on.
Didn't Vice-Idiot Biden just tell those people that Mubarak is not a dictator?
I guess it will be within a week when we see the heliocopters landing on the embassy of the US in Cairo. Another disaster under the auspices of another left wing president.
Frankly, I think (.)bama should fly in and organize the flights out. In fact, as the commander, he should be the last to leave or go down with the ship so to speak.
No and the old one is going to be less friendly if they survive.
At first they will be...you know they are going to want 0bama to send them big buck$ to stabilize them. They need America to get a fresh start...aftyer all, who else in the world would be stupid enough to give them money.
Presdient sputnick WTF.
Wow....I got excited...
of course I read the headline as:
Obama administration evacuates....whitehouse
What took em so long? This Obama/Islamist planned ‘revolt’ in Egypt has been going on for days now!
*ping*
“What took em so long? This Obama/Islamist planned revolt in Egypt has been going on for days now!”
Well, Saha’s basketball game and the partying in DC by obama and thugs would have interfered with any plans for US citizen safety.
BEST IDEA OF THE DAY. SEND OBAMA TO MAKE A SPEECH...IN CAIRO.
A George Soros/Muslim Brotherhood production, in cooperation with Organizing for America & SEIU, coming to an economically depressed urban population center near you...
I’m sorry, but when I first scrolled down I thought that was a picture of Cheech & Chong with friends.
The woman, Laura Murphy Lee, also said she spoke with the U.S. ambassador to Egypt. She said the ambassador was clueless as to how dangerous it is on the streets. She also said the ambassador told her she should be happy that she was safe on a ship.
oh this is just great... TELL THEM in advance what we are doing...
Does Odumbass WANT another hostage crisis ala Jimmuh Carter?
Keep in mind that the diaper-heads release the hostages within SECONDS AFTER Reagan being sworn into office.
I have always believed that he warned them his first official act would be to start bombing one minute after he became president
They should have been out of there already.
I’m sure glad they broadcast this information so everyone could hear it.
I can understand expats not leaving till the last minute, but I hope tourists had the sense to get out before now. It is potentially dangerous there. I don’t understand what people are thinking sometimes. Obama is in over his head, on the other hand.

It might be a good time for the CIA to blow something up in IRAN.
Mr. K #23
Yeah! Isn’t that an M1 Garand the guy on the left is holding?
Good!! IMHO it is inevitable, as the unrest continues, that Americans will become target, verbal at the least. Already the protesters are pointing to the “made in USA” on the tear gas canisters and verbally blasting American support for Mubarak in the past. With 82% of the Egyptians viewing Americans negatively, things can only get worse.
Oh it was, Iran did not play with RR. Muammar Gaddafi treaded that water and quickly got out.
U.S. President Barack Obama voiced support for an "orderly transition" in Egypt that is responsive to the aspirations of Egyptians in phone calls with foreign leaders, the White House said on Sunday.
Obama spoke by phone on Saturday with Saudi King Abdullah, Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and on Sunday to British Prime Minister David Cameron.
"During his calls, the president reiterated his focus on opposing violence and calling for restraint; supporting universal rights, including the right to peaceful assembly, association, and speech; and supporting an orderly transition to a government that is responsive to the aspirations of the Egyptian people," the White House said.

A scene that is about to be repeated in many Arab capitals in the near future.
Monday may be a day late, and many hostages short of an evacuation.
And by that I mean Iran released the hostages and Libya’s line in the sand was stepped over and family killed.
We had better have a plan to bug out of Iraq before to long.
I hope he understands who the next driver may be.
Carter 2.0
Obama = Epic Fail
I think it's a safe bet that would be the MSM's performance standard if GWB was still president.
It certainly looks like one, but, the receiver isn’t in view. It could also be an old “03” or “1917” Springfield. The Shah’s military may have had some old US small arms. It looks US.
If you’ll notice the end of the barrel there are two. The ‘03/06 only had the one. That second barrel underneath I think is part of the gas recoil mechanism.
“Who are they in danger from?”
I’ve been following this closely since my friend’s daughter was there for one month as an exchange student. They were to leave in four days, but were lucky to fly out this morning.
Mob rule is taking over. People are being robbed. There is no police protection. Fires are being set, and no one comes to put them out. Looters are not only looting stores, they are going into the wealthy neighborhoods outside the main cities.
The last report was that 10,000 prisoners all over Egypt either escaped or were allowed to go free. Guards left their posts and opened the gates. Yesterday, it was reported that 5,000 of those prisoners came from prisons in Cairo.
Banks, grocery stores, and restaurants are closed. ATM machines don’t work; banks have closed. The government disabled cell phone signals and the internet.
to flip a coin for Mubarack's fate

Heads....Mubarack stays...
Tails.....UNDER THE BUS.
There was a report on Fox that an Egyptian gov’t source told them Mubarak is considering an “orderly transition” of not standing for reelection, paving the way for an open election in the fall.

I would be surprised if it gets that far, honestly. ElBaradei is fanning the flames and trying to keep the tension high.
But if it DOES go to that, it will be interesting to see how it plays out.
It’s a Garand.
Wow, 0h0m0 looks terrible.
Like an AIDS patient or starvation victim...
