I have. You have a marvelous orchestra in Atlanta that its been an honor to perform with.

Bur I fly.

If Georgia wants to really assist the traveling public they ought to do something about that nightmare called Hartsfield - Jackson Airport...

;-)

I know, we have the possibility of that type of insurance here in Indiana as well, however, I did say most, but maybe I should also add the qualifier of most non commercial vehicle insurance.

Also, in some states, you don’t have to have insurance, just have to be bonded.

... -— you have no right to endanger the rest of us.

Don't recall asserting that.

My guess is that he fools supporting this nonsense have HORRIBLE driving records.

For the record, I don't.

More to the point: how can private insurance operate in a world where there are no drivers licenses by which to track tickets and accidents and DUIs?

Maybe based on your claims? How about punish folks for what they do, not what they might do. In the mean time, I have to register myself ten different ways. Criminals and illegals don't bother and no one cares. There ain't no money in it...

the obvious was stated.

How about those who simply do not have the requisite motor skills, or sensory acuity, to operate a vehicle safely?

Laz! Lots of those folks have a "valid license". Insurance knows based on claims.

An ID to vote, cash checks etc is cool. But I have to register every year, and get a new little card with my picture every so often, even if I have done nothing wrong, just so I can pay "road taxes" for the "privilege" of going about my own business. Ain't freedom great!

My $.02

What stops them now? I see braille on the driver’s side of drive thru ATM’s, so evidently there are blind drivers.

When I was a little boy in Georgia, I’d ride with an older friend 14 yrs old as he drove me places.

Neither of us had licenses.

I can totally dig this.

Me too, I think...

I don't think it'll ever fly, but I think he's trying to get at something else here. We'll have to let it play out and see what point he's driving home.

I’m willing to bet that almost all traffic accidents involve licensed drivers.

Not all but the vast majority.

Seems to me that your brand of common sense says that licensed drivers far out pace unlicensed drivers in accidents.

I agree to a point, but I would like to know your brakes work.

The government has never checked my brakes. They just sniff my exhaust anally and if my emissions pass, they renew my registration. That's the extent of the registration renewal process around here.

Blind people who want to drive would love this idea! Convicted DUI offenders also!

OK, I think a drivers license should be required as a screening device to make sure we have competent drivers.

I think the phrase that “driving is a privilege” is garbage.

It is a right; as long as you are a competent driver.

West Georgia, 1950.

I was in the 7th grade and rode about 5 miles to school in a souped-up Model A piloted by a 14-yr old, along with his 10-yr old brother.

We were doin' 80, crossing Buck Creek at the bottom of the hill.

ATL has been the plaything of the City of Atlanta inner city political class for 3-4 decades. As such, it is run primarily for the benefit of that political class. Fortunately, it is relatively easy to get in and out of quickly if you know what you are doing, which I do.

You don’t need a driver’s license to operate a vehicle on your own property.

In NY you get a thorough lookover. In GA, they check lights at a minimum, not sure about brakes but I think they do. Exhaust is a roger too.

He is quite right, and very bold to propose rolling back 100 years of government encroachment in this area. Good for him!
