Plastic pellet incident at Va. school ends in expulsion, assault charges
Washington Postf ^ | February 2, 2011 | Kevin Sieff

Andrew Mikel II admits it was a stupid thing to do. In December, bored and craving attention, the 14-year-old used a plastic tube to blow small plastic pellets at fellow students in Spotsylvania High School. In one lunch period, he scored three hits.

"They flinched. They looked annoyed," Mikel said.

The school district saw it as more than a childish prank. School officials expelled him for possession and use of a weapon, and they called a deputy sheriff to the scene, said Mikel and his father, Andrew Mikel Sr.

The younger Mikel, a freshman, said he was charged with three counts of misdemeanor assault. The case was first reported by the Web site WorldNetDaily.

Spotsylvania school officials declined to comment on the incident, citing student confidentiality rules. But documents that the school produced when Mikel's father filed a Freedom of Information Act request show internal division over the matter.

The federal Gun-Free Schools Act mandates that schools expel students who take weapons, including hand guns, explosive devices and projectile weapons, to school. E-mail traffic among school officials showed they ruled that Mikel's plastic tube, which was fashioned from a pen casing, met the definition of a projectile weapon because it was "used to intimidate, threaten or harm others."

School officials in some e-mails referred to the plastic casing as a "metal tube." The plastic pellets were called "B-Bs."

Yeah, I did the same thing using those large jumbo paper clips with big rubber bands. I became very proficient in my accuracy. I could hit light standards on the freeway while going sixty mph. (No, I wasn’t driving.) We also shot at those metal wastebaskets. When struck it made quite a clang.

The whole point of “demoralizing” a society is so that the people cannot possibly be self-ruled,

but must have masters on high to do it for them.

We did have corporal punishment back in those days, and it was used.

Amen, the difference was the school staff, not bowing to PC. You go to school, you live by their rules, otherwise Sayonara.

Their [Leftist's] war is to emasculate men and render them impotent.

Bingo! The schools systems have become thoroughly feminized after a generation of female domination of teacher unions and school administrations. The diminishing numbers of males in classroom and administrative positions are now forced to leave any semblance of manhood at home in order to survive or to advance in this surreal system.

Gone are all reasonable concepts of individuality and acceptable risk necessary for young people to grow into productive Citizens; instead, all are equally conditioned into obedient Drones to serve the state. Those who don't "fit" this new mold are treated as enemies of the state and forever tagged with criminal records. In this emasculated, zero-risk society, many people actually see all of this as good. Unfortunately, so do our less-Utopian enemies.

This board is monitored by TSA, FBI, Homeland Security and The Fun Police.

You have all admited to heinous crimes against humanity, and are now placed on terrorist watch list. It matters not the you broke laws ex post facto, in the days of pc it is most important to label all criminals.

Personally, I blame feminism. The NAGs are not going to stop until we’re all girls - even the men.

Sometimes just the intimidation factor was sufficient, unless you were one of the ones who saw “Coach” on a regular basis, and everyone in school new who “they” were.

The “board of education” of 50 years ago vs today’s “school board”. Which is most effective?

And who are the idiots implementing these stupid rules? Typically boomers, the worst generation ever in this nation.

Words of wisdom spoken by the younger generation who have given America:
8 years of the Clinton presidency, followed by his intolerable inability to fade into the sunset
4 years of Obama
the highest bankruptcy rates of any generation
the slowest generations to launch
Shall I go on??

When you point fingers, never forget that there are 4 other fingers pointing back at you.

Next time you're in DC stop by and tell these guys how screwed up they were.

Every time I've been there I've been stuck by the feeling that the names of those from the Boomer generation who could've made something productive out of the rest of their generation are up on that Wall.

Unfortunately, between the absence of those who made the ultimate sacrifice there, and those who served there as well, the leadership cohort of the Boomer generation grew from those who didn't go (or went and came back with the wrong lessons. Such as John Kerry) - usually because they FOUND a way to avoid it.

THAT is one of the fundamental flaws of the Boomer generation.

Right there with sneaking into class ahead of everyone else and putting tacks in everybody elses seats, including the teachers. This would get you multiple life sentences now.

Wow! You brought back memories of years ago. One time I was in a class on 2nd floor. I had ‘bomber’ cracker and was showing it off. Guy seated in back of me dared me to light the cracker and throw it out the open window about 2ft away across the aisle. I lit the cracker and gave it a heave. Only thing wrong was the cracker missed the the open section of the window and rebounded back under the seat of the girl seated next to me. Big bang and lots of smoke. I still remember the girl and how she came into view out of the smoke. Didn’t go to school for a couple of days to just let the ‘smoke clear’.
