This is exactly why the west should NEVER give back priceless historical artifacts to these backwards pedophile worshiping countries.

If true, then there go all the artifacts up in smoke.

Case in point why the artifacts should stay in the British Museum.

Geepers...idiots roaming at large.

Just like the LA riots - idiots burning their own infastructure, neighborhoods and local assets.

Similar to cattle craping in their own beds.

Rioting muslims destroyed the library at Alexandria. This has been going on for centuries.

Personally I’m disgusted with the media blaming everything on the “pro mubarak” protesters. After all, they didn’t even appear till today. Who was burning things and throwing rocks yesterday?

This sort of behavior reveals the fact that there are radical Muslim groups involved here and that this is not just a peacefull, people power revolution. Egyptians know the value of their past particularly in tourist dollars but also in culture. Radical muslim groups, however, want all of this histroy destroyed as it is perceived to be against allah and is a sacrilege to keep on it muslim soil.

The loss of the treasures is a crime against all humanity.

I had heard it set a tree afire.. al arabiya said the museum.. which is odd, it’s exterior is mostly mortar, stone and inside, dust.. as I recall.

Zahwi Hawass threw a fit a while back over the treatment of some things on display in NY. Wonder how he feels today.

(BTW, he was awarded a position in Mubarak’s new government the other day)

I hate to say this, but Al Jazeera has by far the best coverage of the Egypt situation, far superior to our fascist, filtered media. They are also giving perspectives from both sides, and it’s all live. At least for this event, they seem to be the most fair and balanced!

I agree. Al Jazeera is showing a lot. FYI, Link TV is now airing it now. I don't think it is on all the time though.

Good move, Egyptians. Your country derives most of its income from tourism. People visiting to see all of the ancient artifacts. Here’s an idea, why not just burn them all and screw yourselves? Brilliant.

When Zahi Hawass, the secretary general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, came to work at the Egyptian Museum on Saturday, he found that looters had broken in and beheaded two mummies—possibly Tutankhamun's grandparents
