Parking lot attendants may be low on the Massport totem poll, but they are among the top paid at the money-burning agency, with 16 garage jockeys taking home upwards of $90,000 last year, a Herald payroll analysis found.

Seven overtime-guzzling “parking utility technicians” — all members of Teamsters Local 25 Parking — pocketed a whopping $100,000-plus in pay, records show.....

Massport has been, for decades, a dumping ground for hapless friends of legislative pols who can’t get a real job.

Everyone knows it, but no one does anything about it.

Wow, how would one decide whether to work here, or the Chrysler plant where you go to a drug house on your break?

Oh, I forgot. I’m not connected, so I guess I’ll have to keep my real job.

Some comments

Went through the entire link of salaries for the Hack-R-Rama @ Massport, 20 names per page, 57 pages, looks like the avg. income for these basic skills employees was in the $80k range plus benes.
Just some of the outrageous salaries:
Cashier 57k
Lot lizzard 74k
Broom pusher 67k, 90k for the head broom pusher.
Lawnboy 67k and 99k for his babysitter.
Every one of those jobs plus about 75% of all Mass-Port jobs is a minimum wage job in the real world, topping out at not more than 30k-35k/yr. if you're a real go getter and make a career out of it.
Now multiply this absurdity across the State employee spectrum in Mass-ghanistan and, well, the ship is sinking kiddies.

"...In 1962, President John F. Kennedy planted the seeds that grew the modern Democratic Party. That year, JFK signed executive order 10988 allowing the unionization of the federal work force. This changed everything in the American political system. Kennedy's order swung open the door for the inexorable rise of a unionized public work force in many states and cities. This in turn led to the fantastic growth in membership of the public employee unions—The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the teachers' National Education Association.contractor

Your job is to earn tax money. Anything else you can keep.

Similar salaries are being paid to toll workers on the Mass Turnpike.

And the western 2/3 of the Mass turnpike are free, but there are toll collectors at all the exits out to the New York state border.

I frequently get on the Mass turnpike in Spingfield, get a toll card, travel west an hour or so, cross the New York state border and hand the toll collector back the toll card, but I don’t have to pay any money.

And that toll collector makes $80K/year. And judging how they react, I’d say most of their toll work involves little collection of money.

The problem with the overtime earnings is that in many cases, OT is simply added to a paycheck with no work being done. Or the work consists of “staffing” a booth while watching TV or surfing.

Most of these agencies are stuffed full with employees and any serious OT is rare. It's not like they ever work when the weather is bad, but the OT collected keeps going up.

It really is a broken system that will need a complete shutdown before it can be fixed.

Smart.

Effective unemployment for low educated dolts is over 20%. So, you have no problem with taxpayers raped to give to one dolt on weekends tipple pay, while another dolt is out of work.
