A Secret Service Agent is recovering after accidentally shooting himself Friday morning.
It happened just before 10 a.m. at the Ventura County Sheriffs Department shooting range on Aviation Drive, in Camarillo.
A spokesman for the Sheriffs Department says the gun went off as the agent was putting it back into his holster

ROFLMAO!
GLOCK envy?
I’ve carried Glocks over 20 years and have only shot myself 4 or 5 times./s
This was many years ago thanks I carry a b - license
Finger on the trigger while reholstering is my guess. Poor trigger discipline N.D.
And I bet we never know if I’m right.
I do the same. I learned that respect for guns from my parents, and I hope that most owners have experienced the same childhood lessons.
I think Secret Service carries the Sig in .357 Sig.
Great guns point shoot.
Sounds about right. ND. No excuse.
Your “B” beats my C-36, General.
The only Sig I ever carried was the compact in 9mm in the Navy, but it had the conventional DA/SA trigger with a de-cocker.
GLOCK!
Someone probably told him he had to be willing to take a bullet for the president. So he thinks, “MAN this is probably gonna really hurt,,, but ok, its my job i guess, ,,,here goes,,,, BANG!”
OUCH!! F&%K!!!
A retired Marine told me this one:
“What do you do when you start to miss your ex?”
His self answer:
“I recommend 2 clicks right windage!”
LOL
I spoke recently to an in-law who owns a Glock. He isn’t as knowledgeable as he should be. I pointed out the notion that as far as a Glock is concerned - the holster is the safety. He was somewhat puzzled. I suggested that he buy a thousand rounds and sign up for an NRA sanctioned pistol training course and practice till the 1k ammo runs out.
I know one person who sold his Glock and replaced it with a Springfield XD Tactical - the one with the thumb safety as well as the grip safety and mis-named ‘trigger safety’.
Oh, right, blame the victim.
Has this article passed the smell test?
I have been shooting since I was old enough to remember and was taught safe gun handling from the same time, but I have had an accidental discharge. OK it was a negligent one but it was easy to have happen.
I was 18 and had bought a new Colt 1911 from Gibson’s in Ft. Walton Bch. Fl.
As I lowered the hammer on a live round, the hammer slipped off my thumb and it fired. Fortunately I did have it pointed safely at the ground.
Either the slide or hammer cut the end of my thumb. I still have a tiny scar to remind me.
I am actually glad it happened as I have never done anything like that since. I have to remind myself sometimes to never get complacent tho.
