“A Secret Service Agent is recovering after accidentally shooting himself Friday morning.”
I’m just surprised that all secret service morons haven’t shot and killed themselves.
I dealt with these dolts in the Marine Corps. They tried to kill LBJ with typical SS stupidity but missed.
Here’s the SS scorecard in the last 50 years - one president dead, two nearly killed.
The idiot secret service couldn’t stop a dog rolling in his shit.
I could pick any 10 privates from the army or the Marine Corps to give a president better protection than the clown SS.

I treat my Glocks like a d/a revolver with a 5.5lb trigger pull. Keep yer finger off the trigger and protect the trigger guard.

Yes,
But you’re dangerous. Only a “professional” agent with a badge and title should have a gun./sarc

I bought a new Ruger SR 9 last month. It has a safety but I figure if I shoot myself I can just shake it off.

As I lowered the hammer on a live round, the hammer slipped off my thumb and it fired. Fortunately I did have it pointed safely at the ground. So what do you do differently now in that same situation?

I heard DEA is hiring. They need someone to give presentations to school children.

Now when I lower the hammer, I place the thumb of my left hand between the hammer and slide. After the sear releases, I remove my finger from the trigger. I slowly let the hammer go down by both holding it with my right thumb and slowly sliding the other thumb out just a bit. If I happen to let the hammer slip again it will be caught by either my other thumb or the half cock notch.
The hammer will then eventually move to the half cock notch. I then have to pull the hammer back very slightly as I again pull the trigger. As it goes past the half cock notch, I again remove my finger from the trigger. I then allow the hammer to slowly go the rest of the way down while I slowly slide my thumb out of the pinch between the hammer and slide.

I got a Kahr PM11 (has real safety and is SMALL).
Another keeper is the Taurus SLIM with safety.
Both are small enough to carry.

I've been shooting since I was 8 and never put a hole into anything I didn't mean to. Same for me (I'm 53, and have fired thousands of rounds over the years, including many rounds fired during 13 years of active-duty in the Marine Corps).
This ND (Negligent Discharge) is likely due to the turd being a product of affirmative action, rather than being selected as one of the best for the Secret Service.

When I was a flight engineer for the Air Force on C-5’s we dropped into Ft. Campbell when Bubba the traitor was the head cheese. I rented a car and drove to my Dad's house in Tullahoma. Watching the news that night, I saw bubba was coming to town and his plane was going to be parking next to mine. I got pissed because I realized it would probably delay our departure from Ft. Campbell. I left early the next morning and drove over to our crews hotel in Clarksville. We got the hotel to give us a ride over to Ft. Campbell's Airfield and found SS agents at the side gate waiting for us. A female agent said, “we need to escort you to your C-5”. We let her in the van and sit in the front seat. We drove the short distance to the C-5 on the ramp. As we pulled up in front of our plane, I reached in my wallet and fished out a “Bill Clinton Traitor Rapist” Urinal Sticker I had the Koreans make me at Osan. Peeling off the adhesive, I slapped it on the female agent's back and exclaimed “fine job there Maam, serving the office” got out and went upstairs to start my preflight. What a sight it was to see the SS agent wandering back across the ramp to Air Force one with the sticker stuck on her back......

Booger hook, bang switch. Yup, the expression created and popularized by Glocksters. Here's a Glock G17 owner.

I pointed out the notion that as far as a Glock is concerned - the holster is the safety. With ANY weapon, the BEST "safety" is you brain housing group.
