I think that no celebration of what would have been RR's centennial birthday would be complete without a few words from Baroness Margaret Thatcher.

This, her last major public speech, was given at a dinner organized by the National Republican Senatorial Committee to pay tribute to RR.

My friends, God Bless Ronnie - and God Bless America!

The "Iron Lady" cast in Bronze.

My friends, one further golden thread connects Ronald Reagan with the Republican Party today – the love of liberty. So it is doubly fitting that this should be your theme tonight.

President Reagan didn’t just abhor communism, mistrust socialism and dislike bureaucracy, he truly loved liberty – he loved it with a passion which went far beyond anything else in his political life.

I met both Reagan and Thatcher together at Point du Hoc in 1984. It was the high water mark of my Naval career.

:) I would imagine so!

I never met President Reagan, but I did meet and speak to Lady Thatcher when she was doing her book tour.

Right before the lads from Scotland Yard escorted me from the premises...

With his “Reaganesque” manner, and as a “channeler” of Ronald Reagan...shouldn’t Hussein Obama have been included in PM Thatcher’s comments? ; )

I'll re-read the speech, mayhap she did say something about community organizing...

I actually had met him once before, when I was a child and he was governor of California.

From Baroness Thatcher's remarks on RR's 80th birthday:

Twenty-five years ago in a famous speech you Mr President quoted Franklin Roosevelt to the effect that we all have a rendez-vous with destiny.

Certainly you has such a rendez-vous.

Thank God you were on time.

I saw Iron Maggie (interesting name) give a keynote speech to a convention in Dallas once. She was great, every bit as good as this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=BP4wh7ebS40

That is so great!

I sometimes regret not bullying my brother into taking me to the 1980 convention in Detroit.

...mayhap she did say something...

Hopefully, she will have said something about Obama stabbing England in the back (with the release of secret British nuclear weapon info to the Russians).

Thank you for the article on the Grand Lady.
