EDITORIAL: A contemptuous administration--Obama team runs afoul of the law in drilling dispute
The Washington Times ^ | February 4, 2011 | Editorial

The Obama administration doesn’t hide its contempt for Congress, independent agencies, watchdog groups, the media and whistle-blowers. Now a federal judge has found the administration in contempt of court. It’s about time.

The case, Hornbeck Offshore Services v. Salazar, centers on a company challenging the moratorium on deep-water drilling imposed after the BP oil spill. On June 22, U.S. District Judge Martin L.C.Feldman ordered Interior Secretary Kenneth L. Salazar not to enforce the moratorium because it appeared “arbitrary and capricious and, therefore, unlawful.” The 5thU.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the order. Mr. Salazar got around the injunction by rewording a few technical terms and issuing a second moratorium four days later. Even after that second moratorium was lifted on Oct. 12, no deep-water and only a few shallow-water permits have been issued.

Suffering from loss of business, Hornbeck asked Judge Feldman to force the government to pay its attorneys fees, and on Wednesday he agreed on the basis that the administration was in civil contempt...

I guess Salazar wasn't jailed for contempt because it was considered a civil case but Judge Feldman should have jailed him.

“A contemptuous administration—Obama team runs afoul of the law in drilling dispute:

“Apparently they don’t know who I am,” he said, with a smirk. Then he headed out to ride his bike and have an ice cream cone, shake some hands and smile for the camera.

*His signature piece of legislation has been ruled unconstitutional

*His interior department has been ruled in contempt of court

*He gave up the UK’s nuke secrets to the Russians

Anyone have a more complete list along these lines?

But then what is the good of being King if you can’t abuse your power.

This could be construed as an impeachable offense.

Where is the NYT, CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN...?

Swell. We taxpayers get to pay. Nobody at Interior will have to personally pony up or fear jail. Nope. More swag from the Treasury will be how this ends.

Time for the Judge to issue another injunction and allow Oil Companies a Judicial Permit..and then let the Supreme Court sort it out. I doubt that obama would send troops to stop the drilling....

* Obama and his allies Code Pinkos and Billy the Bomber and bernadine instigated civil unrest in Egypt to try and force a 30 year ally out of power

* The Obama administration is making an end run around Congress and the courts trying to implement their cap and trade agenda through regulation of green house gases with the EPA

* The Pigford II settlement is all due to Obama (look up the history), Pigford II is fraud against the American taxpayer. Obama has enabled fraud.

And Louis. Landreau still follows all of Obama’s orders, totally unconcerned about how this is affecting the State of Louisina.

That's a good enough list. He's impeachable, and it's insane that it's not going to happen.

If there is no law, there is no law.

The laws protecting those in power are nullified the same as those protecting the citizens they nullify.

That list is enough for impeachment IMHO.

Doesn’t matter if it is a civil case - a Judge can jail you for contempt big time with no problem at all.

Thanks, I didn’t think it should matter but for the life of me I couldn’t figure out why Salazar wasn’t jailed.

I’m talking about when it happened, a few days after Judge Feldman made the ruling Salazar issued another moratorium and IMO he should have been jailed then for contempt.
