British PM calls multiculturalism a failure

MUNICH, Germany (AFP) – British Prime Minister David Cameron condemned his country's long-standing policy of multiculturalism as a failure Saturday, saying it was partly to blame for fostering Islamist extremism.

In a speech to the Munich Security Conference, Cameron said many young British Muslims were drawn to violent ideology because they found no strong collective identity in Britain.

Signalling a marked change in policy towards ethnic and religious minorities, he urged a "more active, muscular liberalism" where equal rights, the rule of law, freedom of speech and democracy were actively promoted.

...

Many criticised his timing, on the day that 2,000 members of the far-right English Defence League (EDL) held a rally in the ethnically mixed city of Luton to protest against the spread of Islam in Britain.

Cameron did not mention the EDL but a lawmaker for the opposition Labour party, Sadiq Khan, accused him of "writing propaganda for the EDL".

The prime minister's speech was the first of his premiership on Islamist extremism, a major concern for British governments since four home-grown suicide bombers attacked London in 2005, killing 52 people.

It echoed controversial comments made by Merkel last year, when she also called multiculturalism a failure, ..

Cameron, who took power in May 2010, argued that "under the doctrine of state multiculturalism, we have encouraged different cultures to live separate lives, apart from each other and the mainstream".

"All this leaves some young Muslims feeling rootless. And the search for something to belong to and believe in can lead them to this extremist ideology," he said.

...

"A passively tolerant society says to its citizens: as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone. It stands neutral between different values," he said.

An editorial on Aljazeera (which is far more objective than the msm) last night pointed out that 0 is quickly loosing friends as evidenced by the EU deciding to go their own way on the Egypt crisis.

Doesn’t surprise me at all. It’s what I’d been sensing for several days now. What Cameron and Merkel said today just confirmed it. What Obama has done was to purposely destabalize Egypt for his own ends. It’s beyond dangerous — and the European nations KNOW what kind of peril it puts them in. It’s a race now to see if the nation can survive until he’s out of office in 2012.

The UK is making strides to privatize healthcare and now dropping multiculturalism...will the media here even cover it? The Dem’s are in a race to make us Europe before Europe goes to pot or turns around.

Anyway, the left will probably set about painting Cameron like Geert Wilders.

First off, I would like to commend Prime Minister David Cameron, he is finally (albeit a bit too late) beginning to see the light.

Why I say it is too late is mainly because Cameron himself is still confused, as evidenced by the last two paragraphs of his speech.

Cameron still believes that these uprooted heathens from various parts of the globe can still share a common British identity, they can't.

They can however share no identity, but that wouldn't be very British.

Cameron still thinks that Democracy and Islam can coexist, they can't.

All of Western civilization will eventually have to choose, and it will either be "The will of the nation" or "The will of Allah"

I’ve seen Cameron a couple of times in “question” time with the UK
Parliament.

Shame we can’t vote for him to be President of The United States of The USA.
Cameron is clearly running intellectually at about 100 percent faster
than Obama (and many other potential 2012 Presidential candidates for
the office of US President).

"Cameron still believes that these uprooted heathens from various parts of the globe can still share a common British identity, they can't."

Their paper crane moment is over... Now the Brits will have to learn the hard way, like those in other parts of the world who have learned playing nice with those infected with islam does not work and only emboldens them. The question is will they have the cojones to do what it takes?

Majority in U.S. and EU see Immigrants as a Problem
Sat Feb 5 09:14:43 2011 ·

“The Transatlantic Trends survey is sponsored by several institutions in the United States and Europe. Most Europeans and Americans believe that immigration is a problem rather than an advantage for their respective countries, according to a survey published Thursday by a group of foundations. The survey shows that citizens whose personal situation worsened due to the economic crisis in the past two years believe that immigrants are to blame for it. 65% of Britons believe that immigrants are a problem, followed by Spanish (53%) and Americans (52%), and then by French (42%), German and Dutch (39%).”[snip]

Multi-culturalism is foothold for foreign governments to meddle in other’s politics. Witness the mexican meddling in our affairs.

Here is a big part of the problem. USCIS.

USCIS Ombudsman Doesn’t Understand the Point of Numerical Limits
By David North, February 2, 2011

Congress for close to 90 years now has voted to numerically limit some kinds of immigration. The point is that the U.S. does not want to be overcrowded the way Egypt is.

The open borders people and greedy employers have long resisted numerical limits, and have often figured clever ways to avoid them, or to define away the limits that they cannot change. Witness the games played with H-1B ceilings in recent years.

Unfortunately, an arm of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the Office of the Ombudsman, has missed the point, too.

It recently released a statement in which it openly regretted “unused family-based visas”:

During FY 2009 and FY 2010, usage of family-based visas has been exceptionally low, especially among spouses and children of green card holders . . . In FY 20009 approximately 10,000 family-based visas were unused . . .

The document continues:

Despite the fact that more family members are becoming eligible, demand for family-based visas remains weak. While efforts are underway to facilitate maximum utilization, a significant number of family-based visas may again go unused in FY 2010.

Instead of leaving things alone, the Ombudsman reported that the Office has “worked alongside USCIS and the Department of State to monitor family-based visa usage in FY 2010. To enable more family-based visa applicants to become eligible for final processing, the Visa Bulletin cut-off dates have been accelerating significantly.”

In short, the Ombudsman’s Office is busily trying to manipulate a very complex system to make sure that every conceivable family visa is issued to some potential immigrant, whether there is much demand for them or not. Unused family visas “fall down”, in the jargon of the immigration business, to people in the employment-based categories, so “unused” is something of a misnomer.

The byproduct of this all this activity is to change the mix of incoming immigrants in a manner that will surely lower the average per capita income of the arriving immigrant cohorts, because studies show that people on employment visas earn more money than people on family visas, a factor not discussed in the Ombudsman’s message.

While I have no problem with the government facilitating immigration along the lines set by Congress, it should not actively promote immigration, particularly of low-income people, which is exactly what this unit of USCIS is doing.

I was doing a web search minutes ago and read a copyrighted article about Texas being concerned about a surge in illegals from India (meaning LOTS of them). All the wide open borders need now are welcome signs while we continue to get multiculturalism from the entire world.

Many of us tend to forget that illegal aliens enter the United States in two distinct ways: approximately 60 percent cross a border illegally; and the remaining 40 percent overstay a legal visa.

It sound like we here in NJ are not unique in being overrun with visa overstays, former guest workers (many from India) who compete with American professionals by working through temp agencies that vouch for them. Often they pay no or little taxes, yet take full advantage of our safety nets while suppressing US salaries.

Image how much less you could work for if you paid no or partial taxes!

Those of you who haven't seen this article by a Danish psychologist might find it interesting.

Nicolai Sennels concludes that "... I am completely convinced that Muslim integration will never happen to the necessary extent".

California is even worse.'Fer instance, Loma Linda University prefers to hire Third World doctors as they work a bit cheaper than Americans.

They are mostly from India, and all claim to donate the majority of their income to various foundations - hence avoid American income tax. But never stand in front of a Seventhday Adventist and their money!!!!!

Hurrah PM Cameron! You have the courage and strength to state the truth about a system which _insists_ on vocal and then violent jihad to overcome every nation on earth.

Note, the true intent of a religion is not what the man in the street, the average believer or even a majority of believers espouse. The doctrine of it is revealed by its high level teachers, learned ones who study it and know its history and the fullness of its message. They say clearly jihad is required and it means killing, if not listened to; lying to kifar is required behavior. Duh to so many people.

Although a mild rebuke the excesses of Multiculturalism, Cameron speech was pure elite liberalism.
It didn’t say that the native Brits have a right to their land culture and history. Rather it bemoaned the failure of Muslims to fit in with liberalism. Cameron has no problem with increasing the number of Muslims in Europe so long as they pretend to be liberal. And in his speech, he basically said that since we European elites can suppress nationalist groups and fascists, we should have the right to suppress the most extreme Islamists.
