Reagan worship (2004 flashback hit piece when Reagan died)

The "liberal media's" unprecedented 24/7 gushing over a controversial and divisive president caps a quarter-century of fawning

The media's weeklong coverage of the passing of President Reagan has produced some of the most rapturous remembrances in modern times. Given Reagan's long illness, few expected the gloss to be pierced by examinations of his past as an FBI informant, his support for the apartheid regime of South Africa, America's covert alliance with Saddam Hussein, or the killing fields of Central America. Nonetheless, the sheer volume of media-stoked adoration has been a bit startling to those who are keepers of the flame of objectivity.

"I think when somebody dies there's a tendency for the press to view them through rose-colored glasses. It's only polite," says Alex Jones, director of the Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics and Public Policy at Harvard University. "But I think they're doing a great disservice by making this totally positive and uncritical coverage. In fact, Ronald Reagan was a very controversial president, and journalists should be trying to offer something that resembles an honest look back at Reagan's administration."

Just watching the gun salute and there is a military at attention with tears running down his cheek.

....his past as an FBI informant....

From the crowd who adores Daniel Ellsburg or any other "whistleblower" providing evidence against the government (if it's run by conservatives), corportations, etc.....

How dare Reagan expose communists, however.......

I don’t get why I’m moved to tears sometimes like this and I don’t know how she doesn’t cry in public.

I don’t have her strength.

From 2002 to 2010, our house bordered the Reagan Library property in Simi Valley. As soon as I heard that Pres. Reagan had died, I walked down to the corner and already people had started to pile floral arrangements and hand-written notes under the Library sign. Media trucks were rolling into the subdivision within a few minutes’ time. And then the roads were closed and checkpoints set up. As the days passed, the floral arrangements being delivered were from countries and heads of state, and they overflowed from the corner and a long way up Presidential Drive.

It was all so very sad, and something I’ll never forget.

So "controversial and divisive" that he won 1984 by a landslide. This writer is a uninformed hack Commie. He is a Media Matters POS.

Eric Boehlert is a Senior Fellow at Media Matters for America, George Soros funded organization, George Soros funded stooge, following the orders of George Soros, much like the flying monkeys following the orders of the Wicked Witch of the West.

Anytime you disagree with a leftist “journalist” like Boehlert, you are “divisive” and should shut up; anytime you agree with him, you are both in favor of unrestricted “free speech”, better known as “their speech”. Well, I consider Jimmy Carter an incompetent and an antisemite and he got only 40 percent of the vote aganist Reagan’s 50 percent plus - just who is the divisive one, Carter or Reagan, Mr. Boehlert?

Yes, it is sad but, you witnessed the first reaction to the death of the greatest president in our lifetimes. Thank you for sharing that experience. God Bless!

That's why I used the lesser "Landslide" instead of the term "Blow Out". If I remember right, MN was close for Mondull. He almost lost there.

Just an aside, when Ronaldus Magnus died, there was a pictorial thread on FR showing people lining the streets, farmers in fields, people on overpasses, giving respect to the hearse that carried his body to and from the airport.

Anybody have a link to that thread or those pictures. On in particular I’ve been looking for, it was a farmer on a tractor holding his cowboy hat over his heart.
