Introduction to the Rumsfeld Online Archives (My Title)
Rumsfeld.com ^ | 2/7/11 | Donald Rumsfeld

Posted on 02/07/2011 9:37:38 PM PST by BCrago66

Former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld has released his papers online - literally thousands of records, many of them previously classified - of memos and other documents written by Rumsfeld himself and others going back as far as the 1960's. The online archive at Rumsfeld.com includes documents from the Nixon, Ford, and Bush II administrations, and also documents from his time in the private sector.

It looks like a pretty cool resource, and it's word search-able too. I linked above to just one example; a document written by William Rehnquist, from when Rehnquist worked in the Nixon administration in 1969. This particular memo is interesting to me, but perhaps of limited interest to most people.

But for those who want to look, I'm sure that there's a lot of interesting stuff in this archive at Rumsfeld.com, including Rumsfeld's own personal memos in the Bush II administration; his "snowflakes."

Here is the correct link:

http://www.rumsfeld.com/

Not sure about the authenticity of the site. The about section has no personal reference or remarks from Rumsfeld himself.

Interesting though.

Here are a couple more links before I retire for the night; two snowflakes from Rumsfeld dealing with “unknown unknowns,” one written before and one written after his February 2002 press conference in which he used that phrase.

May 21, 2001 (I think the “P” is Rumsfeld’s deputy Paul Wolfowitz.)

October 15, 2002 (A memo listing concerns regarding a potential conflict in Iraq.)

I gave you correct URL twice in the text, and unless the Wall Street Journal and other media outlets are lying, the site is authentic.

Geeze! Don’t take it personal.

The link you gave opens a .pdf. Most people would freak if they aren’t tech savvy.

I was trying to be helpful. Maybe I could have worded it differently. My apologies.

The correct link to give would be the top link home page. IMO.

I was not aware the Journal opined on this site. Might have been nice to read their view.

An interesting link that yet again confirms that our federal judges are selected for their willingness to bend if not break the Constitution in service of the powers that be.

Like or hate the guy, what a wealth of information and look inside the dealings of government during turbulent times.

He was talking with Fox News and said his son has a terrible drug problem. What is up with these govenrment officials who have such problems with their children especially conservatives....Reagan, Rumsfeld, Cheney, Palin. They need to do a study on conservative parenting in government.

The problem is that career SENIOR level government bureaucrats like Rumsfeld aren’t around to effectively parent-—they generally work very long hours and are almost constantly traveling, always leaving the kids at home with the Mrs.

You see that in with a lot parents in high profile jobs. I’m thinking of PK’s in particular, but not exclusively. This is not to criticize people who choose to go into those kinds of professions, but it can be hard on the families.
