Mandatory Arabic Classes Coming To Mansfield
MANSFIELD (CBSDFW.COM) Some Students at Mansfield ISD schools could soon be learning Arabic as a required language. The school district wants students at select schools to take Arabic language and culture classes as part of a federally funded grant.
The Foreign Language Assistance Program (FLAP) grant was awarded to Mansfield ISD last summer by the U.S. Department of Education.
As part of the five-year $1.3 Million grant, Arabic classes would be mandatory at Cross Timbers Intermediate School and Kenneth Davis Elementary School. The program would also be optional for students at T. A. Howard Middle School and Summit High School.

They ought to be learning Chinese instead.
Great, so now our kids can say “please don’t cut off my head” in Arabic...right before they cut off their heads. This will help!
I assume to accompany mandatory classes in Spanish. Students do not have to look far to practice their Spanish. Apparently “educators” expect the same for Arabic.
Who in the 0bummer regime is behind this?
I think if I still had kids going through school, I would want them to learn a foreign language, but my choice given what I see down the road would be Mandarin.
Boy I agree. The DOE determined Arabic is the language of the future? I think not. Mandarin Chinese is the language I’d love to learn. That, and refining my other second language of profanity.... lol.
Do we need anymore proof?
Language of the future if you want to be a prison guard in Cuba.
First words in arabic for the teachers kiddies.....”””Kil zeggie !”””....aka “Eat Sh*t”......!!!
Second phrase.....”””Bous Zippy”””.......Won’t even translate that one on the open forum.
I’m all for learning the language of your enemies so that you can defeat them, but I somehow doubt that this is the goal behind the policy here.
The US military and intelligence groups are badly in need of people who can speak languages such as Chinese, Farsi, and Arabic
I really don’t have a problem with schools teaching languages that will be more useful than, say, French.
Many will resort to “lead speak” before they succumb to the “language of the future”.
I was wondering how that cr*p got into Texas...but then I saw the magic words...”federal grant”.
The slime and corruption of the Obamaloon administration just keeps going and going.
But unlike the energizer bunny, it will end, and there will be a price to pay.
Absurd! Roll over leftists love to be punished in any fashion for the misdeeds of the white devil. The prepare for it always. Stop the insanity. If one wants to learn Arabic at some point fine but don’t make our kids roll over for the “probability of a muslim future.
Throw in some “pig latin” so the muzzies will leave.
“refining my other second language of profanity”
Just take a good look at the world and the craziness around us, that should give your second language skills a boost. ;)
Update from last night’s school board meeting:
“Mansfield ISD officials apologized to parents Monday night over a plan to teach Arabic culture in every class at one school.
Many parents said they hadn’t been told about the mandatory curriculum change.
Parents and teachers packed a Mansfield ISD school cafeteria to hear learn more about why Arabic language and culture could soon be embedded in everything their children learn.
Veronika Webb is a sixth-grader at Cross Timbers Intermediate School. Her parents adopted her from Russia when she was three years old. She had to learn English, but her language challenges weren’t over.
“She had to learn Spanish when she was in elementary school, and now they want her to learn Arabic,” said Bobbi Webb, Veronika’s mom.
The Mansfield ISD plans to use grant money to start a program that would look at almost every subject from an Arab perspective, but Monday was the first time they’ve explained it to parents.”
Parents and taxpayers must remain vigilant as our culture is attacked and we are expected to pay for it!
My nephew is taking a course in college. Good for him.
He is waiting for a new CIC I think is the plan.
Obama and his Chicago progressives inflicting their agenda
Will Arne Duncan Shake Up America Schools?
A must see for all who believe in Americanism.
Mandatory Arabic language study in Texas? Sorry, I don’t believe it.
They should teach them English.
I could see driving Spanish language classes in Texas. And as far as the “language of the future” for this decade, it would be Mandarin Chinese. Of course, back in the 1980s, the language of the future was Japanese.
My position would be to for elementary schools to do 4 weeks of Arabic, 4 weeks of Chinese, 4 weeks of Spanish, and 4 weeks of Latin. Then repeat. Not every kid will learn deeply, but at least they’ll be exposed and might consider taking more later on. And, of course, high schools ought to try to offer all of these as electives.
This is the school district I live in. Fortunately it is not the schools that my kids go to that are affected right now. I can tell you that it is already raising a lot of hackles in the community. The school board is really going to get an earful.
“He is waiting for a new CIC”
Aren’t we all.
Counting the hours....
The only time you should learn a foreign language would be when you travel to a foreign Country for vacation or if you plan to stay period.
Not true. Most of the Spanish spoken in the SW US is atrocious.
Mandatory language classes and graduation requirements including those classes really don’t accomplish much aside from providing jobs for language teachers. I think we’d be much better off having students get out of school and into life a year earlier than they do now, or at least provide the ambitious and industrious that option.
We cannot change hearts and minds if we don’t speak “their” language.
This seems like a good thing, educating tomorrow’s missionaries today, preparing them to communicate the gospel to the Muslim world.
Hmm, it might be very important for the parents to review the “history” that’s presented. I’m absolutely confident it will be the twisted version of “the golden age of tolerance” in Spain, instead of the truth about jihadism that is the heart of Islam. Maybe the school superintendent should be directed to http://www.jihadwatch.org and http://gatesofvienna.blogspot.com/2011/02/lights-are-going-out-all-over-europe.html
I really doubt that by the time the kid's get through the indoctrination classes they will become missionaries for Christ.
did the Saudis buy up the town or something?
‘language of the future’?? - have you not seen Star Trek?
Esperanto is the language of the future! No doubt about it.
Language of the future?
Well it sure isn’t French. I studied that all the way through high school before coming to realize that nobody WANTS to talk to those people.
Actually it would not be a bad thing if more of us were able to translate Islamist propaganda in real-time.
everything we know is wrong.
Actually this could be beneficial to learn Arabic.
Then at least when they here the imam’s on youtube they will here them calling for the death and beheading of Jews and Americans.
“We cannot change hearts and minds if we dont speak their language. This seems like a good thing, educating tomorrows missionaries today, preparing them to communicate the gospel to the Muslim world.”
The problem is that the program intends to incorporate Arabic language and CULTURE into EVERY SUBJECT (read entries above). The teaching of that culture won’t be presented or analyzed from an American, Christian viewpoint, I can guarantee you; the material will come from Islamists intend on propaganizing the next generation into thinking that Islam is “only a religion of peace”. This is sheer propaganda from the enemies of America seeking to capture the young people of our country. I’d encourage you to look at the history of what Hitler did with the younger generation of Germany through the Hitler’s Youth program.
Seems strange to push this in Texas. That’ll be the Mexican zone of influence in the post-America age. Arabic might come in handy in what is now the Midwest, however.
I enough parents want an Arabic immersion education for their kids, let them start a charter. In my county, we now have a Hebrew immersion charter school.
How many of these students can read and write English correctly?
Parents shouldn’t let their kids become guinea pigs for any sort of crazy idea the local public school dreams up. Most parents don’t want a “madras” education for their children.
Complete waste of money, and it will be an epic failure if parents and students are not on board, and reading the comments under the article, I don’t think people are too happy with this.
“I really dont have a problem with schools teaching languages that will be more useful than, say, French.”
Yeah, but the problem with this program is that it is MANDATORY that Arabic be taught. I have no issue at all with having a foreign language class mandatory, but the student should have a choice as to which language he or she elects to learn.
