Brawl on the right: Glenn Beck v. William Kristol
seattlepi ^ | 02/08/11 | staff

Posted on 02/08/2011 4:06:15 PM PST by Mozilla

Glenn Beck is "marginalizing" himself with conspiracy talk about Egypt's anti-Mubarak protests and evoking memories of the John Birch Society's Communist-conspiracy talk of the 1960's, leading conservative pundit William Kristol wrote over the weekend.

The Fox News pundit hit back on his Monday radio show, saying that Kristol is abandoning conservatives and fails to fathom an unholy alliance between Islamic activists and socialists.

"I don't even know if you understand what conservatives are anymore, Billy," Beck said. "People like Bill Kristol, I don't think they stand for anything anymore. All they stand for is power. They'll do anything to keep their little fiefdom together, and they'll do anything to keep the Republican power entrenched."

Beck broadened his accusation, saying that Kristol does not understand that "we are fighting the forces of evil on this planet."

Kristol, editor of The Weekly Standard, wrote over the weekend that "hysteria is not a sign of health," and added:

"When Glenn Beck rants about the caliphate taking over the Middle East from Morocco to the Philippines, and lists (invents?) the connections between caliphate-promoters and the American left, he brings to mind no one so much as Robert Welch and the John Birch Society. He's marginalizing himself, just as his predecessors did back in the early 1960's."

It helps to know who John Birch actually was. Google him up and see...

Were the Birchers "right?" Probably more right than wrong, just as Joe McCarthy was more right than wrong.

Beck is one of the most courageous men alive today. I am watching another, Geert Wilders.

That he is. I hope their security teams are up to the task.

In Beck's case, its hard to refute him, since he basically just quotes from his targets' own material. He seems to be the only one doing any original reporting on anything of importance. They others just quote each other and pretend Beck doesn't exist except to attack him (but careful not to give any detail about what it is he said that was wrong).

Most of the stuff he covers I've gathered from other sources, just by remembering details that are scattered across other sources, but he is the only one actively trying to pull the pieces together, connect the dots, and arrive at a coherent picture. He says he has 30 people doing research and I believe it.

and that is the problem with these establishment elitists.

They want to tell us what they think , what they want us to know instead of us being informed.

I think beck had it right tonight when he talked about not wanting slaves to read and that way they would not know what is right or wrong.

There are a lot of things that Beck hasn't said that I've found while studying up on what he has said.

Tonight I was reading about code pink in the middle east and just happened to discover something they're doing in Oregon called the "Rural Organizing Project". They have a VERY interesting logo.

That was then. Things have changed. He DOES do reseaech and he was inundated with criticism for it. He is not so quick to jump anymore. In fact, I would say that he has some of the best research staff in the business today. Everyone makes mistakes. It takes a great man/woman to admit it and go on. Beck has.

Many of our nation’s founders said that Americans would be free as long as we were educated.

exactly
If Beck is wrong then prove it but if he;s right then report it why code pink and Ayers , etc are over there for the last two years and why did obama actually pick that city to do his speech and now it burns.

here’s one report and investigate why Soros has El Baradi in his group and it would be him to take over our ally.
Report as to why our foreign policy has now changed to pissing on allies including the UK by giving away nuclear secrets to Russia

There’s so much to report and investigate but now it is easier for them to please their elitist cocktail pals in DC by attacking those who report facts, a word most in our corrupt biased media does not understand anymore.

There was one issue that he got wrong; I wrote, and it wasn’t long that he reversed himself but in a very detailed and well researched way, including information I had no idea of. He does change his mind once he follows the research. (Not giving myself credit for the change, it was no doubt coincidental).

The problem being that almost every single thing that they said would happen, has happened.
They were right.

Didn’t anyone teach Chrissy Matthews and the rest of the “Beck is nuts” crowd that ad hominem attack represents a logical fallacy? Don’t they actually do this for a living, most of them? They should be embarrassed but it’s ALL THEY GOT.

I wasn’t aware that Beck [or any of the other Wilders slanderers at Fox] apologized. Do you have a link for that?

Conspiracy. Yeah right. Like the silly conspiracy of Ayatollah Khomenei’s to make Shah Reza Pahlevi’s Iran an Islamic Republic. That could NEVER happen. Right, Mr. Kristol?

Personally, I thought the Bircher’s were a good group. They brought in some great and well known Speakers who spoke at our local Elementary School Auditorium. It became even more packed with people each time. Folks who had not really “thought” about a lot of what was going on at the time seemed to come away with a feeling of enlightenment and were glad they'd attended the Speech. I,for one, wish they would come back in a big way. THIS COUNTRY NEEDS SOMETHING to wake them up again!!!

OK Mr Kristol. So I guess we can chalk you up as a supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Beck blew it big time on Wilders. Beck obviously did not know who or what he was talking about. Which is odd, because Beck had interviewed Wilders during Beck’s CNN stint.

Beck was probably just following orders, which is somewhat disappointing but certainly not surprising.
