Nick Clegg is to make an explosive attack on British universities as ‘instruments of social segregation’ as he orders them to stop taking so many middle-class students.
The Deputy Prime Minister will this week insist that top institutions must ‘throw open their doors’ and lower their entrance requirements for the less well-off.

Clegg is a Lib-Dim, sorry, ‘Lib Dem’, who the tories are in coalition with, out of neccesity to keep Labour out...
They do this already in the US; take in unqualified “minorities”, let them spend a few semesters in “remedial classes” (basically what “white” students learn in sixth grade - and they earn no college credits for them) until they realize they are 5-7 years behind the real students and simply drop out. Middle class students get to earn $8 an hour working to pay for school, while paying full freight (no “affirmative action” discounts). In the end, they have debt and move up to $9 per hour working...
Well duh! the better students don't need lower entrance requirements.
And the universities will be flooding the workforce with newly minted middle school graduates.
Funny. Here was me thinking they were instruments of academic segregation. Anyway, it seems that Mr Clegg, by making this very statement, is the one who is most propogating social segregation. Like all liberals, he majors in identity politics.
And then we wonder why the Chinese are becoming a world superpower.
