Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) took to the House floor Tuesday night to criticize what she called a "demeaning" Pepsi ad that aired during the Super Bowl.
In the ad for Pepsi Max, a black woman sitting on a park bench gets angry with her husband after an attractive, white female jogger sits down next to the couple and smiles and waves at the man.
After the man smiles back, his girlfriend or wife gets angry and whips her Pepsi Max can at him. The man ducks, and the can hits the attractive jogger in the head. The ad is titled "Love hurts."
Jackson Lee said it was ridiculous for the soft drink maker to air the advertisement during African-American history month.
"In this month of African-American history where we're trying to celebrate what is good and great, it certainly seems ridiculous that Pepsi would utilize this kind of humor," she said. "It was not humorous. It was demeaning — an African-American woman throwing something at an African-American male and winding up hitting a Caucasian woman."

If that happened it real life - the person would be in jail for assualt. If it were a white couple and a black woman knocked senseless - there would have been a furor and boycott. Just another dumb white people commercial. TV is total s**t.

If Pepsi showed a commercial lionizing black Americans, Jackson Lee would call it patronizing.
Everything’s racist in Sheila’s world, especially if there’s a mo-money angle.

She objects because the black girl didn’t intentionally throw it at the white woman.
No it was a very racial ad. It showed that it is okay for blacks to assualt dumb white people. Just another dumb white person TV ad.
This would have been assault and someone would have been in jail. It is okay to assault white people, steal their wealth, tax them to death, rig elections with the black panthers, etc. Wake up.

It is my theory that the quality of the commercials (and the halftime entertainment) is inversely proportional to the quality of the game....
Yes. It shows it is okay to assualt whites including white women. Just another stupid white person ad. They will take it. They will accept having the Constitution destroyed and the Treasury looted.

Black men are letches? Black women are tempermental bitches? White women are more attractive than black women? If a black woman attacks a white woman there are no consequences?
I mean come on, its a commercial, not the funniest I’ve ever seen, but hardly was any of it meant to relay any social commentary listed in the questions above... Really? We are in a depression... we are truly a nation without a leader, running rudderless and ignorant and this is what rises to the level of a speach in Congress?
These people are certifiably idiotic.
The first Dorito’s commercial with the guy licking the dust off folks, has turned me off Doritos for a long long time.. Sorry, while I enjoy gross out humor, its definitely not something I want in my commercials... I think Doritos will see a sales slump directly related to that ad.
OREOs reminds me of Kathy Gifford’s remark about Governor Sarah Palin and actions by Kathy “P.f.Brains” Gifford’s friends. Where was J. Lee then?

This is strange - the really disturbing part was when the black couple decided to take off while the white woman was all the ground in pain - seems like personal responsibility left the area. Now, if that had been a black woman that got hit - all hell would break loose.

And why did pepsi think that portraying their soft drink as a weapon you can chuck at people’s heads, would be a good thing to do?
Pepsi was dead to me a long time ago anyway.
There are sporting events and other public events where white people are attacked in the stands by blacks. you wont see it reported in the papers tho. It’s probably a sport to the attackers. Dumb white people go sit down in the middle of trouble, because they dont think the same way, they think it’s all kumbaya time
It was a horrible ad from any perspective.
