Many of us, who treasure liberty and democracy, are thrilled by the ongoing people’s revolution on the streets of Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan, Yemen and other Middle Eastern nations, headed by dictatorial regimes that are friendly toward the infidel world (in Iran and Gaza, no such protests).

The following facts, gathered by a Pew Survey, should worry us as much as thrilled are the revolutionaries.

According to a recent Pew survey (April - May 2010) reported by Reuters:

20% percent had a favourable view of Al-Qaeda
18% had confidence in Osama bin Laden (though it has fallen from 27% a few years ago
Also,

49% are favorable of Hamas
30% are favorable of Hezbollah
On Islamic punishments:

54% wants segregation of men and women in workplace
82% wants adulterers be stoned
84% wants death penalty for apostates from Islam
77% favors flogging or amputation of the hands of thieves
On the preferred system of governance:

59% preferred democracy to any other kind of government.
22% said a non-democratic system be preferable in certain circumstances.

Above facts may give us an inkling to at least a part of the people’s discontent against the reigning dictators, who tries to maintain friendly relations with infidel nations and even show their inclination toward recognizing Israel.

People certainly wants democracy, and they will probably get it -— in terms of putting the next government in power.

What would come subsequently remains to be seen, although it seems all too clear already to the discerning mind.

Egyptians Hate America and Want Islamic Rule

In July of last year, the University of Maryland commissioned Zogby to poll the people of Egypt. Here are a few of their findings:

•85% of Egyptians hold an unfavorable attitude toward the U.S.
•87% of Egyptians have no confidence in the U.S.
•92% of Egyptians believe the U.S. is one of two nations that is the greatest threat to them (the other nation the Egyptian people hate is Israel)
•52% of Egyptians hold an unfavorable opinion of American people
•65% of Egyptians believe that Islamic clergy must play a greater role in the Egyptian political system
•79% percent of Egyptians believe that it would be positive if Iran is able to acquire nuclear weapons
The Zogby poll results back up a similar project conducted by Pew in April and May of last year. Among Egyptian Muslims polled, 85% felt that Islam’s role in politics was a positive one. In a struggle between modernizers and Islamist fundamentalists, 59% of Egyptians who foresaw such a conflict stated they would side with the Islamists, while only 27% stated that they would side with the modernizers.

Another Pew poll last June revealed that only 17% of Egyptians hold a favorable view of the United States, while 20% hold a favorable view of suicide bombing. Yes dear readers, Egyptians like suicide bombing more than they like you.

Pew also revealed that 82% of Egyptian Muslims support stoning human beings to death for having sex outside of marriage and that 77% of Egyptian Muslims support public whippings and cutting people’s hands off for theft. In addition, a terrifying 84% of Egyptian Muslims support the death penalty for anyone who has the good sense to leave the religion of Islam.

As much as we may not like Hosni Mubarak, there are many worse people who could be in power in Egypt — and they are very likely to be in power before the end of the year. We would all like to believe that the protesters in the streets of Egypt are all fighting for freedom — but that is not what they say about themselves. By their own admission, they prefer Islamic fundamentalism to modern civilization by more than 2 to 1. They don’t want a modern democracy; they do want to murder people for having sex outside of marriage. They don’t want freedom of religion — in fact 84% of them want to establish the death penalty for it.

What does this sound like? It sounds a whole lot like Iran in 1979. Westerners with common sense should be leaving Egypt as quickly as possible, with no plans to ever return. We would like to hope for the best, but we must plan for the worst.”

You need to educate yourself... Rush read a new pew poll of Egyptians... 82% hate America... they want sharia law... just find it and read it.

WisemanRAX was so anxious to come across as an internet tough guy that he really didn't even respond to what my post really said.

I guess "Wiseman" thinks once you remove a ruler, freedom just drops from the sky.

You're right, LLS...he needs to educate himself before he gets carried away. It only takes a passing knowledge of the general culture in the region and a look at similar events over the past few decades to be able to make a fairly safe assessment.

There's only one nation in the Middle East that has attained "freedom" in the past few years, and that ain't set in stone yet.

You are delusional... your worship of math is coloring your perceptions... islam cannot be explained by stats... they are a death cult based on evil, deception, mysticism and satan. You can “figure” all you want... we all know that liars can figure and figures can lie... but then we do have the statements from the rioters in Egypt... and not one has been pro western... and "freedom" to any muslim is freedom to be controlled and dominated by islam. Turkey is a prime example... 13 centuries warring with these demons has taught us nothing... because people like you still want to believe that muslims are just like us... they are not... and they will NEVER be like us... they hate everything we are and stand for... including LIBERTY! Their koran and haddith demand that.

Thanks, FRiend. :)

I don't know that I'm an authority, but I do call 'em like I see 'em.

I'm not on the 50-yardline for this one, but I'm still in the stadium.

I know that freedom doesn’t fall from the sky but I would like to point out that when polling, sample size is very important because if you poll 12 people, it’s not really significant. However, if you poll 12000, well that would be a great statistics and you can make an assumption from that. It’s not worshipping math, but just using it to say something about the world. This is the problem with polls, they never give sample sizes since they know that once people see how many in total were polled, people might become skeptical.

As far statements from rioters, it does not mean much to me as news sources (whether right or left) can selectively take out statements to form an opinion that they would like to hear and others to believe. Constantly saying that a significant amount of Egyptians hate us is not going to help your case.

Also I made a mistake when I replied to Allegra in my first post, the reply was meant towards TruthConquers.

Muslims are people like us but most who fight against us don’t understand what it means for them to be Muslim, they are constantly bombarded with propaganda about hating anything Western by clerics with an agenda that molds the minds of these people. Unfortunately, that is the way it is.
