Could The Fall Of Mubarak Lead To World War Three?

Posted on 02/11/2011 2:02:16 PM PST by pinochet

The peace treaty that the late President Anwar Sadat signed with Israel, is extremely unpopular with the Egyptian people. If free elections were to be held, any presidential candidate who hoped to stand a good chance of being elected, may be tempted to bash Israel in his campaign speeches.

If diplomatic relations between Egypt and Israel were to be cut off, there could be big trouble. If the Egyptian government were to refuse to cooperate with Israel in maintaining the blockade against Hamas, that might ignite an Egypt/Israel military conflict.

If Hamas was to provoke Israel at this sensitive time, and if Israel were forced to respond militarily like they did in 2008, the crowds in Egypt would go wild.

What if there were similar uprisings in America-friendly nations like Pakistan, Morocco, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and Jordan? We may end up with WW-3, and the launch of a new crusade between the West and Islam. This battle may take decades before it is decided.

It became popular when the Israelis destroyed their airforce and Moshe Sharon crossed the sweet water canal on his way to Cairo. They may need a reminder.

But there is also another scenario. The US gives Egypt military 1.5 billion dollars a year. If they were to start anything against Israel that would immediately stop. As my wise father said follow the money. There might be agitation in the Egyptian streets to do something but the military will vote for the money is my prediction.

LOTS of vanities today. There was a day a while back where something big happened and there were dozens and dozens of vanities all day long. Does anyone remember what happened? I’m totally blanking. It was something about Obama, but I don’t think it was the election. Oh, well.

No WWW III. Egypt will simply slip quietly into radical Islamic rule, the MSM will be busy covering Lindsay Lohans’s latest escapades and no one will be the wiser.

Just how would Egypt “back out” of the peace treaty? Give Sinai back? Start a war?

If they [Egypt] were to start anything against Israel that would immediately stop.

With the current U.S. administration why do you think it would stop?

The US gives Egypt military 1.5 billion dollars a year.

The Saudis could make that up out of pocket change if they thought it would buy them some peace from the Muslim Brotherhood. Also with the US facing bankruptcy the money was likely to get scaled back in any case. Lets face it thanks to Obama's trillions of dollars of reckless domestic spending we just don't have the deep pockets necessary for wide scale bribery any more.

that might ignite an Egypt/Israel military conflict.

If this was 1967 or 1973 I would say bring it on. But we have sold Egypt the most sophisticated surface-to-air and other weapons that will end up in the hands of the MB and kill thousands of Israelis. It would be devastating.

Current administration has already jumped on side against Israel. MB has already declared war. Obama supports the MB.

Can’t remember the man’s name who “stepped to the mike” in Cairo a few days ago (pro Moslem Brotherhhod), said the treaty with Isreal was between Marbarak and Isreal, not Egypt and Isreal.

Liberal voices from the past. Substitute Egypt for Viet Nam, Laos Cambodia etc

“Vietnam should teach us an important lesson. Hanoi [is creating] a collectivist society . . . likely to produce greater welfare and security for its people than any local alternative ever offered, at a cost in freedom that affects a small elite.” — Stanley Hoffman; The New Republic, May 3, 1975
“The greatest gift our country can give the Cambodian people is not guns but peace. And the best way to accomplish that goal is by ending military aid now.” — Rep. Chris Dodd (D., Conn.) Congressional Record
March 12, 1975
“It is ironic that we are here at a time just before Vietnam is about to be liberated.” — Producer Bert Schneider; Academy Awards, April 8, 1975

It could very well. Any Muslim nation that threatens Israel will have its hands full to be sure and may regret they tried to wipe them out.

Meanwhile, Obama won't do a damned thing to interfere but will try to stay Israel's hand. A gesture which will fall on deaf ears in Tel Aviv. There will be war. Israel won't start it but I believe they'll be a good bet to finish it.

Glenn Beck said Tunisia is our “Archduke Ferdinand Moment”. Personally, I think all of these events are but acts in a long running play. The real question in my mind, are we seeing the lead up to the finale?
