Third of Russians think sun spins round Earth?
Reuters ^ | Feb 11, 2011 | Alissa de Carbonnel

Posted on 02/11/2011 8:43:16 PM PST by george76

Does the sun revolve around the Earth? One in every three Russians thinks so, a spokeswoman for state pollster VsTIOM said on Friday.

In a survey released this week, 32 percent of Russians believed the Earth was the center of the Solar system; 55 percent that all radioactivity is man-made; and 29 percent that the first humans lived when dinosaurs still roamed the Earth.

The celestial math works out fine for an earth-centric universe.

It's all relative.

Big deal. We have a president who thinks the entire universe revolves around him.

In the United States, the results would probably be about the same.

The celestial math works out fine for an earth-centric universe.

Right. The math is easier when you assume a sun-centric system, but that math does not prohibit an earth-centric system.

So yep, it is still scientifically correct to say that the sun rises in the east.

Actually I sort of admire Russians.

We should as a nation, IMHO, to a certain extent “gang up” on China.

Just to a certain extent though. Don’t entirely trust them yet.

You are really on to something. The US and Russia should gang up on China, and more importantly, together project a strong united front against radical islam.

Future historians will say that one of the reasons the West fell is that the US picked at Russia, lectured it on human rights, instead of forging a strong alliance.

Putin is no choir boy. But he is not the threat. Radical islam is, and Putin should be our unquestioned ally.

In the US it would be much worse; hell, we even had a congresswoman that thought the astronauts landed on the sun (just kidding - she actually thought they landed on Mars). I’m surprised she didn’t ask if they’d found Bugs Bunny’s nemesis, Marvin the Martian, and unlocked the secrets to his space modulator...

I 'believe' they coexisted, but the humans were not in flesh gravity held bodies. I sure know that the dinosaurs are not part of the humans family tree as is claimed by the so called hot steamy single cell primordial pot cults.

Thinking while reading your very good post, about Bosnia.

And about the fact, we (Clinton actually) supported in that conflict in Bosnia, the very same side which supported Hitler in WWII...

Rather how we’re once again repeating past mistakes, this very day.

Try the product of Commie Schools. Busy teaching the evils of Capitalism.

Russia is a capitalist society and has been one for nearly two decades. The only people pining for a return to communism are the pensioners. Young people want nothing to do with this and they certainly don't teach it in the schools. Young Russian boys dream of being business tycoons. These are the Alpha Males and oligarchs in modern Russia. They date movie stars and fashion models. Young Russian girls dream of marrying a business tycoon or at least being a mistress to one.

American kids, on the other hand, dream of being rappers, athletes or landing a gig on the next season of Jersey Shore.

Just of curiosity, what sort of humans bodies aren't made of flesh or affected by gravity?

The flesh body was formed/created as the vessel for which the soul/spirit to inhabit during the flesh age journey. The 'memory' of time before is not accessible in the flesh body. The 'composition' of the non-flesh body has yet to be discovered. But there has been discovery of footprints that look just like present flesh bodied humans that could not have been left behind by a flesh body. Flesh eyesight is not capable to 'see' into that dimension.

And those Russians are absolutely correct: when you sit under a tree and the sun hits the bottle of vodka just right, you can clearly tell from the refraction angle that that particular bottle is at the center of the universe, and the sun revolves around it...

“The celestial math works out fine for an earth-centric universe.

It’s all relative.”

In fact, you can work out the math to show that the entire universe revolves around YOU. Or me. Or anyone else.

But the simplest math shows that sun orbits the center of the galaxy, the Earth orbits the sun, and we crawl on the Earth...

Says who?

But there has been discovery of footprints that look just like present flesh bodied humans that could not have been left behind by a flesh body. Flesh eyesight is not capable to 'see' into that dimension.

So, flesh eyes can't see non-flesh bodies, but ordinary clay can register the imprint of non-flesh feet from "another dimension?"

I smell a logical fallacy here...

And, besides, as Marcello Truzzi said: "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof."

The footprint is there, and dated before the existence of the historical record of flesh weighted bodies. I do not have to see BamBam's face to feel an Arctic chill, his voice alone does that to me.

I smell a logical fallacy here... And, besides, as Marcello Truzzi said: "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof." Regards,

Do you remember the age of the dinosaurs? It would be extraordinary IF you said yes. Sometimes the fallacy is the logic smelt-(verb).
