Kelly McParland: Ontario quietly reverses field on wind, solar energy
National Post ^ | February 12, 2011 | Kelly McParland

Posted on 02/12/2011 9:00:13 PM PST by george76

Times of international turmoil are great moments for domestic governments to make important announcements they don’t want to be noticed. Especially if the announcement involves a sudden reversal in policy that could seriously embarrass the government.

So Friday afternoon was an ideal time for Ontario’s Liberal government to take a big chunk of its alternative energy program and chuck it overboard. ..

After years of touting wind projects as a critical piece of the alternative energy puzzle, the government let slip — very quietly — that offshore wind projects are no longer part of the game plan. Turns out there just isn’t enough scientific evidence that offshore wind projects do a lick of good...

Gee, now wouldn’t you think the government would have checked out the science before insisting wind power was the way of the future? Evidently not. The McGuinty people have been pushing ahead vigorously on the wind front ever since they concluded they could squeeze more votes from trendy enviro-enthusiasts, who are in favour of anything that sounds remotely Greenish, whether it makes sense or not.

They’ve been running into a spot of bother, though, as rural residents grow increasingly agitated at the monster wind towers being slapped up wherever the government sees fit to put them. Turns out the government may have been a bit rash in dismissing complaints that the low-level noise from the turbines can cause health problems...

Added to McGuinty’s problems with wind are similar signs of trouble on the solar front.

Great. Just when the idiots in Ohio are planning to screw up Lake Erie with a bunch of these navigational hazards, the Canadians figure out they're a waste.

Turns out there just isn’t enough scientific evidence that offshore wind projects do a lick of good, said Brad Duguid, the energy minister...with the global collapse of all credibility of the man-made global warming hoax, the enviro-dilettantes no longer have any leverage to push their job- and economy-destroying green agenda......

It looks like Ontario has figured out how STUPID wind projects are. A decade ago they figured out how STUPID it is to (virtually) sell off a highway (Route 407) to a foreign company, and have not repeated that IDIOTIC mistake.

However, in the interest of never letting a STUPID idea die, the star of CPAC did the same with the Indiana Toll Road (to the same company, nonetheless) when he was governor there...and now the people of North Indiana will have to pay for his STUPIDITY for generations.

That's why I'm not overly worried about the environuts here in America. There agenda is so radical and damaging that it's unsustainable politically. Of course that won't stop the left from trying.

"Gee, now wouldn’t you think the government would have checked out the science before insisting wind power was the way of the future?

Or maybe they could have paid attention during a fifth grade science class? Humm, maybe we should still teach science instead of pottery and self esteem 101? We have idiots making scientific decisions here in the USA as well. Here we also have CEO's of billion dollar utilities feeding at the green troth as well.

The most disturbing facet of this whole charade is the ease with which many respected scientists discarded the protections afforded by Scientific Method(SM). SM was the discipline that eventually reversed the countless woes created by centuries of sorcery and superstition. Current day acknowledged geniuses abandoned SM and declared global warming and alternative energy scams to be settled science without a single experiment or study controlled by the principles of Scientific Method. Einstein said it best when he observed, "No amount of experimentation can ever prove me right; a single experiment can prove me wrong." That was the threat posed by Scientific Method, one properly designed experiment could cause billions of dollars of grant money to disappear so it was best not to do it.
