Possible Running Mates for Sarah Palin in 2012 Presidential Election
Yahoo! News Weekend Edition ^ | February 13, 2011 | William Browning

The race for the 2012 Republican nomination for President is becoming more concrete. GOP candidates made their pitches to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington on Feb. 10-12 and a straw poll of attendees was taken. The Washington Post reports Rep. Ron Paul of Texas won the poll, with about 30 percent of the 3,742 ballots cast.

The poll doesn't say much as not one candidate received more votes than the other. Some of the biggest news from the weekend came from former vice presidential running mate Sarah Palin and she didn't even attend the conference. Palin hired former Bob Dole campaigner Michael Glassner as her chief of staff, signaling a possible run for the White House.

Now the speculation and discourse about Palin's politics will continue and gradually build to a formal announcement running for president (or not). Who would be Palin's ideal running mate should she win the Republican nomination? Here are some suggestions based upon traditional party tickets and even some like-minded individuals who would serve Republicans well in 2012.

Ron Paul would be ideal since he is from a southern state and can get a lot of voters in the huge Lone Star state. He could also galvanize more tea party voters and convince independents who lean to the right that Palin is a good idea. Paul will be 76 when the 2012 presidential election happens and then 80 when a potential first term is over. At least he'll only be vice president, but Paul will serve as a foil to Palin's youthful exuberance.

Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina is an excellent choice for Palin....

Big grain of salt needed.

The speech yesterday only had me more convinced. Rep. Allen West.

At this point I have a feeling that its only a four year term and West runs in her stead in 2016...I see her now as a necessary transitional leader who will give the four years everything she’s got and leave the country in his steady hands.

In some ways a “quitter” ;)

I like Sara but, if she runs, Jesus Christ could be her running mate and it wouldn’t help.

Personally I would love to see a Palin/West ticket. I believe they are our only hope to getting America back to where we should be.

From Dole's wildly successful '96 campaign? Great.

So you’ll let the media, DNC, Hollywood, nutroots, academia and Obots make your decisions for you? Thats sad.

In some quarters it would hurt. I disagree with you by the way.

This guy is obsessed with her picking a VP from the South.

She won’t need help carrying the South.

I’m hard pressed to think of any Republican needing help down here.

I believe that this election will be won in the Midwest.

“The race for the 2012 Republican nomination for President is becoming more concrete”

Sorry, No personal insult is intended ...but I call total BS on this article.

...even a giant grain of salt is far too little for the tripe that the msm attempts to spin as to current “winners and loosers” on the Republican side, before anyone (other than Herman Cain) has actually formally declared.

Big grain. Frankly, I don’t even think she’s going to run.

So who’s next?

How hard is it to understand that she wouldn’t be attacked like she has been, if the bad guys didn’t fear her? Why do they fear her, if she’s unelectable?

Bachmann, DeMint, Palin (in alphabetical order :). Any prez/vp combo from those three would be exceptionally good for our country.
