'Gay Conservative' Is an Oxymoron
Townhall.com ^ | February 14, 2011 | Star Parker

CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Conference, has been an annual gig for me for years. But this year I concluded it was not my place and I declined to participate in the various venues at the event for which I was invited.

Yes, the reason I declined was the inclusion of GOProud, a group identifying itself as representing “gay conservatives and their allies,” as a sponsor of the event.

And it’s the reason why some of the nation’s most important conservative organizations – the Heritage Foundation, the American Family Association, Concerned Women of America, Family Research Council, Media Research Center, and the National Organization for Marriage - did not participate.

The founder and chairman of GOProud removed any doubt on my part that not participating was the correct decision by dismissing these groups as “losers,” “clowns,” and “not relevant.”

I, of course, have been accused of being worse than a clown. The barrage regularly comes in from the left. But this is a first that I’ve had to listen to this kind of stuff from a group that postures as “conservative.”

I became a conservative in church. I thought I was doing okay in my previous life - scamming the welfare system, going to the beach, soaking in my welfare subsidized hot tub, treating sex as a hobby, and abortion as birth control.

In our culture today that views material prosperity as the ultimate barometer of success, the truth is becoming unfortunately lost that the evil man can prosper. And if there is nothing more than what is before our eyes in this world, what does it matter?

When I understood how the culture of welfare state materialism was destroying not just my life, but all of black America, there was no dividing line in my mind between “social issues” and “economic issues.” The only dividing line I saw was between right and wrong, good and evil.

The idea of “gay conservative” is an oxymoron.

“Gay” is everything that “conservative” is not.

The foundation of the world view that so-called “gay conservatives” embrace has far more in common with liberalism than with conservatism.

It’s a world view that is man-centered rather than God-centered. It is a world view that rejects eternal truths passed on from the beginning of time. Although the world view that “gay conservatives” choose to invent may diverge from the world view of liberals, their common ground is they make it all up.

And it is here where “gay conservatives” and “liberals” fundamentally depart from conservatives.

Conservatives believe that there are objective and eternal truths, not of the product of any individual human mind, that are transmitted through the generations. Culture is not like HDTV or iPhones where the newest model is the best.

These eternal truths provide the light in the fog that keeps us from crashing on the rocky shores where our base instincts lead us.

“Gay” is liberal, not conservative, regardless of what their stand may be on government spending or taxes.

It’s why, like all liberals, they use language to create reality, rather than appreciate that words have meaning that reflect reality.

So they have re-invented the word “gay,” re-invented the word “marriage”, and now they want to re-invent the word “conservative.”

Finally, we will re-invent the word “freedom” and we’ll put the final stamp on the idea that a free society, rather than being the path to truth, is the path to meaninglessness.

What individuals choose in private, and for which they bear personal responsibility, is separate from what we sanction publicly for which we all must bear responsibility.

A value-neutral government is impossible. The central battle in our country today is about values and how we understand freedom. It is a battle for our very soul. And, as we learned from CPAC, it’s not a struggle that is just between Democrats and Republicans.

Are we to change estate law to say that one can will one’s property anywhere, except to one that one has buggerred?

Homosexuals can leave their money and property to whomever they please now. They can also get power of attorney so their "friend" can speak for them. What they WANT is to make peopel recognize a "marriage" . And they are trying to use the force of government to do it.

NONE of that is the point. They can do that NOW. They want to force people to accept “domestic partners”. In other words homosexual “marriage”. What about that don’t you get?

I’m sure most do. I’m also sure from reading the GOProud platform, that they don’t, unless they are lying in their platform. I have no evidence of that.

Telling them they are not conservative is de facto telling them to not vote conservative.

If they are not conservative why would they vote conservative?

So can someone unmarried and cohabitating, or engaged in frequent premarital sex ALSO not be a conservative?

I agree that a group “Premarital-sex Conservatives” would not be advocating a conservative position, based solely on sexual practices; but outside the ‘politically active premarital sexualist’ - can they be conservative?

Anyone can leave private property to anyone they choose. That is yet another matter not in dispute.

What is very much in dispute is the question of whether benefits that flow to a spouse must also flow to a homosexual partner. Should it be unlawful for an employer or the government to pay survivors benefits to a spouse and not to any other kind of partner? Making it so means using government power to force us all accept homosexual relationships and allocate funds accordingly. It would be the antithesis of limited government. This really isn’t rocket science.

Until we succeed in getting smaller government, those of us who want smaller government had better quit this sniping at each other, or we will have larger government and no freedom. Either we hang together, or we hang separately.

If homosexuals believe in smaller government, they can vote with candidates who also believe in smaller government whether those candidates believe in the homosexual agenda or not. If they believe in smaller government but want to vote for big government liberals because they support the homosexual agenda, then that's their prerogative. It begs the question, however, of whether they are really "conservatives".

The point in question merely recognizes that private accounts would enable them to will them to their parners, as they can with all other private property, or that which you big government types would not take in inheritance taxes.

Being conservative is not groinal..
If you are gay keep it to yourself, who is to know?..
The conservative movement should be "Don't ask, don't tell"..

And for heavens sake don't start a group to advertise the fact..
A "conservative gay group" has dingle berries on their politics..

If you even need to ask that question, then the liberals have succeeded in splitting us up, and will win.

I am tired of politicians claiming to be conservatives, getting elected and giving us ever bigger and more expensive government. At this point, if you are for Constitutional government you are a conservative. If you are not, then you are not.

Keeping to the same standards of ethics for 2000 years--namely the 10 Commandments, and the sexual ethics of the Old Testament, after a vision from God, Jesus' teachings, and a council of the Apostles, is hardly arbitrarily "picking and choosing" which laws to follow.

The Kosher (dietary), sacrificial, and other ceremonial laws from the Old Testament have consistantly never been applied to Christians.

Most of the conservative movement is composed of sexual sinners because it is composed entirely of human beings. We are all sinners and nothing exposes human weakness more than our sexuality. But that, of course, is beside the point.

Of course you can be involved in pre-marital sex or adultery and still be conservative. But if you join a free-love movement dedicated to using government power to make society embrace premarital sex and adultery(even more) you aren't conservative. You can be a conservative porn addict, but you can't found GOPornloversforselfabuse and still expect conservatives to treat you as a comrade.

It's astonishing that this simple distinction is so hard for so many people to grasp.

their whole manifesto is to promote the homosexuals agenda

It cracks me up when I hear people say I have homosexual friends and they’re conservative.
Really ask them if they want marriage, get kids, serve openly, go to their parades, folsom fair etc.
Hang around in their perverted clubs.

Homosexuals in the goproud are about pushing the homo agenda and it is so sad to see those idiots which state well I have a friend and he is nice I have no problem with their agenda

if anyone has not read this then please do as it is an eye opener and shows how they have been trying to infiltrate and scam people into thinking their normal .

There is no such thing as homosexual “marriage”. They want “rights” and they want government to recognize their “unions”. THAT is using the force of government and it is NOT Conservative.

No, it should be a matter of agreement between employer and employee. Tha government should have no role in this.
