Serene Branson 'hospitalised after Grammy's speech problems'(May have suffered stroke on air-Video)

CBS Los Angeles reporter Serene Branson has reportedly been taken to hospital for tests after stumbling incomprehensibly over her words during a Grammy's broadcast.

After being introduced from the studio, Branson began "Well a very, very...", before mispronouncing "heavily". Trying again, she was still unable to get the word out and continued with a train of unintelligible sounds.

It is feared that she may have suffered a stroke on air.

Agree — TIAs can mean problems in future but can be singular events due to multiple causes. Reports on Branson are conflicting; hope she is OK and a cause will be found.

That was foolish. She should have been evaluated for stroke or seizure. She looked fine, animated nothing in her face to suggest stroke just from what we could see here. But that does not mean she did not have a TIA. My DH had a TIA and did not present with the normal signs at all..his was a tiny one. He was watching TV when it happened. All that he mentioned was that his foot hurt..who would think much of that when one has diabetic neuropathy? The next morning he spoke like he had a mouth full of Novocaine after a dental visit. This young woman should be evaluated and I hope someone smarter than she is or her friends are will urge her to do so.

Mcswan, did you find out what it was that caused you to suddenly become disoriented? Years ago, my dad (picture of good health) had something like that happen. After many tests to rule out certain things, they said it was Global Transient Amnesia. It’s terrifying at the time but causes no lasting damage and has nothing to do with TIAs. I had never heard of it before but got a lot of information about it through Google. I just wondered if maybe that’s what your episode was all about.

I’ve endured several tests, MRIs, MRAs, EEGs, EKGs, Ultrasound, and on and on. Everything seems normal. Yet something isn’t right.

You’re welcome. The description of what you went through sounded so much like my dad’s so I just thought I’d throw that out there. It took a long time and a lot of tests until one of the doctors figured out that it was Transient Global Amnesia. They knew a lot about what it WASN’T and only figured out what it WAS by process of elimination. Good luck to you, and good health!
