President Barack Obama is honoring one of his predecessors today with the Medal of Freedom.
Former President George H.W. Bush is not only being honored for his one term in office but what he's done since. That includes raising cash for Asian tsunami and hurricane Katrina victims.
The Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor, has often been a non-partisan one. Bush is among six former presidents and four former first ladies to receive it.

No offense to George Sr., but he is being honored, essentially, for being a good bureaucrat and a Republican willing to compromise his fiscal principals.
I hope G*D has a special place reserved for the ENTIRE Bush family.
This award has turned into an idiotic joke, for some of the people it has been awarded to in the last couple of decades.
Surprised to not see Bill Ayers on the list. But he is a “warrior” or “enemy combatant”, rather than a “civilian”
G-d is in control.
It’s mostly just a big photo op.
I understand that U.S. Rep. John Lewis [GA] is getting one too.
I’m wondering why Angela Merkel is included?
Do we really need to have presidents handing each other awards?
This country has gone award crazy. Barely a day goes by that someone isn’t being given an award for basically nothing. Hollywood and the music industry are the biggest offenders. They pat each other on the back on a weekly basis.
If I were Stan Musial I’d tell the lazy socialist turd to take his medal and stuff it.
But he didn’t, because Musial is one of the classiest guys on the planet.
I am always glad to see H.W. Bush get recognition. During his show today Rush Limbaugh said that the Presidential medal of Freedom can be awarded to non US citizens. If this is true maybe someday Barack Hussein Obama can get one.
