Is Palin just a politician, after all?
WND ^ | 2/16/11 | Linda harvey

Posted on 02/15/2011 11:51:25 PM PST by pissant

Sarah Palin told reporters that she would have no problem with the porn lobby being cosponsors and holding respected seats at the table at last week's CPAC meeting. Nor does she have a problem with Planned Parenthood. After all, these are "different, diverse groups involved in political discourse" – so why not allow them all to crowd in under the "conservative" umbrella?

Actually, she didn't say these things, but instead told Fox News "gay" groups had a right to be at CPAC. But, why not these others as well? Don't they fit her broad qualifications, as stated above? Why not allow anyone or any group, truly, as long as they decide to label themselves "conservative"? Who cares if Rachel Maddow shows up, saying she's a conservative? Hail to "conservatives" Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Al Sharpton! Why not?

Isn't dialogue important?

Actually, no. When a group espouses a certain set of standards, there ought to be some "truth-in-labeling" involved. Are pro-lifers at NOW meetings? No, and for good reason. It's called integrity. Their presence would signal an endorsement of abortion. Attendance says, "I will listen to these people." But there are some points that are not open for discussion, not for people with strong convictions.

Discover what military personnel and decorated vets think of ending DADT in Whistleblower magazine's dramatic February issue, "DROPPING THE H-BOMB"

Why would any Christian conservative listen to guys who have sex with each other and are working diligently to silence those who tell them this might not be a great idea? With traditional conservatives, the GOProud homosexual group has zero credibility, yet Sarah has just given them quite a bit. She has made a big mistake, if she believes there's a legitimate "debate" that we can hold with sodomy advocates.

This gal apparently has a problem with CPAC cozying up with the poofers. Hence the attack on Palin, who may have said something dumb, but had zero responsibility for CPAC’s decision.

Reminds me of a weird gathering for the family of a friend I attended.....

Some of the folks did not quite get along, mostly because one of them was a snake.

A particular relative clarified he had no problem with that "snake" being allowed to sit at the table, and he had no problem with that persons presence......

Everyone breathed a short sigh of relief, for a brief moment, before he continued on....."while he may have a seat at the table, and enjoy himself, I have no intention of being at that table with him."

The moral being, anyone may show up, it doesn't mean you have to do so also, or even, be a party to it.....

Link, please? I’ve seen the opposite. And, it’s “poofters”.

Actually, the direction that CPAC has taken in the last few years is a direction I had hoped they wouldn’t go.

Ron Paul?

Palin is a politician, and yes, she is treading water on this, because the Establishment is totally in the tank for the gay rights people, and she has to make some choices.

She made a choice. She didn’t attend. This is a free country and if people want to get together and talk about politics, have at it. They didn’t crash the party. They were invited. She was invited to address them and she said no. I don’t see where she endorsed their perversion at all.

When you are invited to an event and you decide not to go, you are not obligated to say why you’re not going. In this case she did say that she was busy with other activities.

Gays at CPAC is one of the least problems for Palin attending. The major problem is that the event is rigged against conservatives. The Paulites and Romneybots have taken it over. Why waste your time?

But a situation is developing where gays get more and more credence. Not good, because they aim to destroy the traditional institution of marriage, and the Republican Establishment is going along. That’s because this “persecuted”minority has a tone of money behind them. Palin will have to thread a needle on this issue. For the gays, tolerance is no longer enough. They demand affirmation.

Naw, CPAC was a rigged vote for Ron Paul and Romney.

The American Spectator poll was fair enough, even though the AS pundits hate Palin about as much as you do. Their pundits haven't yet figured out how to spin their own poll results.

SARAH did not go either this year or last. Period. You seem to overlook that salient point.

Didn’t Palin back McCain all the way? Someone who I cannot stand?

McCain has practically written the book on Rinoism. What does Palin, or any true conservative have in common with McCain? Why would she throw her support to him, let alone run on the same ticket? The old adage “politics makes strange bedfellows” doesn’t quite cut it with so much at stake.

She has never answered this question good enough for me, nor has any one of her supporters on this forum been able to tell me why she would want to back such an enemy of conservatism as John McCain.

Heck, she probably even thinks Bill O’Reilly is a conservative.

So, all of you Palin supporters that want to have a go at it, by all means try to convince me that she’s really a solid conservative. I would love to think she’s the right person for the job. I find myself trying to convince myself of it but it isn’t working.

Fortunately, my "brightness" is not dependent on your shallow, narrow-minded, myopic, PDS obsessed opinion.

Whatever your personal excuses for your PDS, there are much more serious issues at stake for the USA than your self-centered obsession.

Most of Gov. Palin's support comes from people who are paying attention to the issues, both national and international, and not from some cult of personality, as you pretend. None of the other leading potential candidates seem to have a clue, and you appear to share that cluelessness.

Uh, it's a primary, actually pre-primary. And as always, the fanclubs of the particular candidates will act as if everyone else in the field is a moron while their fave is the cat's meow (and in Palin's case a lovable combination of Reagan/Thatcher/Patton/Joan of Arc/Machiavelli/Jefferson). She's thinking of running, then she's fair game to scrutinize.

Sarah might not run and I am not going to be blindsided by rinos and buffoons. I couldn’t bring myself to vote for McCain either. It was agonizing seeing the people I liked drop by the wayside one by one during the 2008 primary season. Hunter was my early choice. I thought he did well and looked presidential during the debates(if a bit grim), but he went no where. I’m hesitant to back anyone going in with little name recognition this time. Many of the possible candidates I like(people like...well...DeMint, Bachmann, and Cain) are virtual unknowns to most voters. My hope is that Palin will do well in the debates/townhalls/interviews and turn around the high negatives she has now. If she doesn’t do well, I’ll have no difficulty switching my support to someone else. The main reason I’m supporting her at this point is that I think she’s the best bet to prevent Romney, Huckabee, or Newt from getting the nomination.
