The Arkansas Senate voted Monday to prohibit local governments from restricting or confiscating firearms during a state of emergency, a move that backers say would protect gun owners' rights during natural and man-made disasters.

Citizens need to elect county sheriffs who support the constitution. Then form a 2,000 man deputy auxiliary force for “emergencies.”

During Katrina, two county sheriffs refused to allow the federal fascist gun-grabbers into their counties.

People need to clean out their local neighborhoods of leftist politicians and elect patriots. It’s not as glamorous as national politics, but it is critical work if you want peace and security in your everyday life.

This article is about Arkansas...not too many leftists here...though most of the local politicians carry a "D" behind their name, they tend to be much more conservative than Ds in most other places.

Most of the voters vote D locally but not so much nationally...McCain(not that he's conservative, but given the choices...) carried the state by over 60% and we did get rid of blanch (sic).

Of course, the cities have more than their share of libs, but most of the state is rural or semi-rural and we outnumber them.

I like it that gun grabbers have a tough time here.

From the Constitution of the State of Arkansas:

Article 2 sec 5. Right to bear arms "The citizens of this State shall have the right to keep an bear arms, for their common defense."

That's it...no other qualifiers or tests, just one simple sentence that says it all.

I partake some hunting forums and Arkansas along with Texas and Florida is starting to have a bad feral hog problem.

The people need their firearms for pest control.

Many a Texan homeowner is actually willing to pay $400-600 an hour for a private team in a helicopter to take out hundreds of wild pigs per night.

That’s exactly the problem I see here since moving to South Carolina. The national voting tilts heavy toward conservatives, but locally the people still vote democrats in for local offices.

The county board is dominated by leftist democrats who raise property taxes and hold illegal secret meetings. The board even appointed an eco-fascist tree czar who makes certain property owners don’t trim or cut trees without buying permits, getting a study done and kissing the county’s ass.

It’s a disconnect I have trouble understanding.

Try Fort Smith...we’re the 2nd largest city in Arkansas but as red as can be (if you ignore the UAFS campus, LOL).

I have to say that it was a heartening trend to see 2 of the 3 Dem seats in the House turn Republican in November. Like I said, we were already red and kept it that way w/Womack even after Boozman sent Blanche packing. Talk about a 180! LOL

I had a hard time figuring out why a state that votes red in presidential elections was so blue, and while I’ve been here for almost four years, I sometimes still have a hard time with it. Maybe I was just raised in too much of a Republican household to get it ;)

Glad to know it’s not just me! LOL There is a very active Tea Party here in this area, but yet they elected a Dem Sheriff in November.

Unfortunately, we’re moving to yet another political landscape come early summer (dh is already in Ohio, and I’m still here with the kids until then). From what I’m reading, they are cleaning house out there as well with the election of Kasich and some conservatives in the House. We’ll see!

Unfortunate for Arkansas, fortunate for Ohio. Arkansas needs every red state conservative it can get.

I have come to the conclusion that very many of Arkansas residents, especially generational residents who are natural conservatives, have and do rely on the state govt for their livelihood via state jobs. Basically democrat controlled jobs. Unfortunately, there is a steady influx of politically liberal out of staters who come here for college as well as for the benefits of living in a still relatively unspoiled part of the country. How long Arkansas will remain unspoiled depends on its ability to reject and fend off these liberals who have ruined their former home states with their socialist activities and tendencies. This relocation of spoiled, self involved liberals of all ages, has brought ruin to other states as well so we can only hope that Arkansas remains able to preserve its fundamental patriotic and religious roots as well as its common sense and conservative values.

Amen. Unfortunately, there are pockets of those non-native residents that have already established their liberal roots in some of the retirement villages in the state, such as Hot Springs Village. Hopefully their influence will remain non-effective.

Hot Springs Village (gated community w/guard stations) is absolutely liberal hell. If they aren't transplants, they are old selfish retirees who have lived with a silver spoon in their mouths all their lives and wouldn't want to be left out of the next liberal love-fest.

Well, there are six of us in our house (including dh), so Ohio is gaining that many conservatives.

We’re leaving a pretty conservative parish here—lots of young families w/more kids than in previous years. My husband says our new parish in Ohio is much smaller but much the same as what we belong to now. Since he makes me look almost liberal, LOL, I take his word as a good thing.

Yep. I can pretty well identify a person in Hot Springs proper as one of the village people (pun intended) as soon as they open their mouths and say something. A most obnoxious and self-absorbed bunch as there is.
