No Regrets: NAACP President Stands By "Revolution" Remark
WHNT ^

Posted on 02/16/2011 8:11:23 AM PST by Sir Gawain

"Those who make peaceful revolutions impossible make violent revolution inevitable," said Sams on Monday. The phrase was a direct quotation from former president John F. Kennedy, who made the original statement while talking about civil unrest in Central America back in 1962. Twenty-four hours later she kept the same tone.

"No, I do not regret saying it, because I did not say we were going to use violent revolution," said Sams. "I don't feel like it's irresponsible. I think you can take a quote and twist it around anyway you want to. But we are not going to keep having business as usual in the Huntsville City School system. That's what a lot of of the people who responded to you (WHNT) expected us to say. They just want us to sit down and let them take over and run the system like it's been run, and we are saying no, that's not gonna happen."

Huntsville, Alabama, has seen violence recently—a year ago a professor of biology at the university there shot several of her colleagues to death.

I’m glad to see conservatives are finally waking up to the true nature of this radical Marxist organization.

It’s not vitriolic, violent rhetoric if Done-While-Democrat. Only REPUBLICANS are capable of violent hate-speech.

Just ask anyone at the New York Times, or an alphabet network!!

Liberal Blacks are racist and violent.

Liberals are racist and violent - it’s part of who they are - angry socialists with no core beliefs or moral fiber.

"God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. ... And what country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure." - Thomas Jefferson

WOW!

He said THAT about the tyrannical, oppressive Obama administration?

Maybe the black "community" is starting to wake up!

.....What?

North Huntsville Civic Association Talks About Achievement Gap In City Schools

The NAACP is talking about Huntsville City Schools. The local community is talking about Huntsville City Schools. Another Huntsville organization is now getting in on the talks, but wants to lead the conversation in a whole other direction. The North Huntsville Civic Association wants to take some of the attention off of the financial problems facing the school system, and put their energy into highlighting an achievement gap.

The North Huntsville Civic Association says not all blacks are being taught as well as all whites. Nearly 100 people from the community attended a meeting Tuesday night to learn more about the group's claim.

Josephine Horn is a former educator. She is also the mother of three.

"My issue is the education of the children," said Horn.

Horn wanted to hear what the association had to say.

"I hope to get more insight on how much the school board is going to share with us with regard to teacher layoffs if there should be any, as well as the closing of the schools," added Horn.

Pastor T.C. Johnson heads up the NHCA. He says Horn's concerns represent some issues in the school system, but his priority lies with others.

He says the school system faces severe financial troubles, but is also dealing with problems in achievement.

"It's time for us to understand that both are problems, and both keep the the whole system at a lower standard than I think we should be with the education that is housed in our city," said Johnson.

Johnson and others shared slides at their meeting. The slides showed statistics gathered by the NHCA.

Perhaps THE ADULTS in this country will soon take on their local school systems and demand school choice:

1) I do not understand how these school systems continually see financial troubles when they are funded by PREDICTABLE sources of local, state and federal revenue.

2) Can we just talk about the real problem? The REAL problem is what is ALLOWED to take place at BOTH these schools and at home. Parents with a lack of responsibility for raising their children, an education curriculum that DOES NOT keep the kids' attention, the fact that it is more and more POPULAR to be the class slacker, and teachers and principals that either cannot or will not enforce respect and manners.

I agree with the quote from Kennedy. And I think this NAACP official is right for quoting it. I just think people should be careful what they wish for....

I may be mistaken, but I believe JFK said, “Those who make evolution impossible will make revolution inevitable.”
The truth of the statement is questionable, but if the statement is accurate, its quite different from the one quoted by this NAACP leader.

Found all of these on a quick search, including (surprisingly) your post on this thread. Who knew search engines worked that fast.

“Those who make reform impossible will make revolution inevitable.”

“Those who make democracy impossible, will make revolution inevitable.”

“Those who make peaceful revolution impossible, will make revolution inevitable.”

“Those who make resolution impossible will make revolution inevitable.”

I think we’ll need to track down video for the accurate quote.
