The problem is that the media was so heavily invested in the narrative of the peaceful protesters seeking freedom, they didn’t bother to consider the possibility that they were wrong. Unfortunately they still don’t.

Mass/mob rapes - they are out there.

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504083_162-5449972-504083.html

For two hours they watched the alleged gang rape of a 15-year-old girl outside her high school homecoming dance.

They pointed. They laughed. They took pictures, say investigators. But no one among the approximately two dozen gawkers called the police.

Why so little coverage? Because covering this story at its face value fully exposes the Muslim culture for what it is - 7th century barbarians.

The Post article linked in the thread also says the gang was yelling "Jew, Jew!!" while assaulting her. Niiiiice . . . .

But let's not report anything negative about Islam - after all, it's the "religion of peace".

This is what we have come to expect from the left.

Vicious vile attacks on those with whom they disagree.

As for NOW and assorted other so called progressives, their silence means that they are complicit in the attacks.

But then, we know them well.

American mobs have done some terrible things, but just offhand I don’t recall any mass rapes.

Don't go there, Sherman. Do a Google News search on 'gang rape' and you'll find our youth aren't civilized to any great degree.

I will agree, however, that the Islamic mindset diminishes the human value of women in general, and non-Islamic women in particular.

I’m just saying that the gap between formal education and practical ability can be pretty wide. You have a good understanding about how things work, college professors-sometimes not so much.

Katty Couric went to Egypt with someone, and seemed to just disappear. I never saw or heard anything from her over there, but, of course, I always click the remote if I see or hear her anyway. Did she just hole up somewhere or did anyone else see her reporting from there?

Many Americans—especially liberal journalists—do not want to accept that violence against non-Muslims is acceptable in the vile, depraved Islamic culture.

I dated a Serbian sociology professor for a while. It was pretty surprising how different she was from her American colleagues.

One obvious difference was the lack of arrogance that is so common in “learned” Americans. She and I were ideological opposites but we respected each other and that’s something her American counterparts are unable to do.

You either agree with them or you’re too stupid to be acknowledged.

“Ward Churchill gets fired, this guy’s career is now off-track, is this a trend?”

We need at least one more data point, but thousands of them would make me happier...

Refusal to accept, or ignorance of, the reality on the ground has always been a fatal flaw in people. Somehow it has always been impossible to believe that others may believe differently than we or that culturally we are different at heart.

From previous personal experience, I realized at a very young age how dangerous that can be, how much my guardian angel had to go through to keep me safe and as a personal thank you to said guardian angel, I have made it an unbendable rule to never, ever make that mistake again. If you accept there are either a) cultural differences reported truthfully, b) there are criminals everywhere — especially in mobs or c) that spitting in the wind might leave you with goo on your face, discretion would be the better part of valor.

Having said that, my heart and prayers for Ms. Logan. May she be totally healed spirit, soul and body and may those who abused and violated her come to justice.

My first reaction was to blame the network which sent her there unprotected. She was following some kind of directive from a producer. I hope a “deep pockets attorney” gets a hold of this and sues the pants off CBS, IMO they should have known better.

Seems more IGNORANT than Arrogant.

I used "arrogant" on purpose. I don't know her personally, but there is among those in her field commonly a type of arrogance where they simply refuse to accept the possibility that they might be wrong about another culture.

I was listening to an NPR "expose" this weekend of American torture in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the interviewee stated that much of it took place because the interrogators believed "that's all these people understand."

The reporter of course agreed that these "stereotypes" were misguided and evil. No consideration even given to the remote possibility that the interrogators might be right in their belief.

That's the arrogance I'm talking about. It causes ignorance because the arrogance keeps them from even considering the possibility that they might be wrong in their beliefs.

What does “unprotected” mean in such a circumstance?

Short of a company of Marines.

She was attacked by a mob of 200 men. What good would one or two or half a dozen bodyguards have done?

The reactions to the Logan incident are revealing the true characters of a lot of people.

The creatures who attacked Logan were not men. They were animals, who just looked like men. Logan's mistake, to the extent she made one, was mistaking those two-legged animals in that crowd in Cairo for human beings.

It is a mistake anybody--even the most situationally-aware person, could make.

My point is, that they should have known what you seem to already know and not have placed her in that position.

“A good many of these “demonstrators” sincerely believe any woman walking around not in a burka is by definition “asking for it,” and they are serving Allah by seeing she gets it.”

According to one report, the savages were yelling, “Jew!” “Jew!” during the attack.....
