Israel is monitoring two Iranian warships about to pass through the Suez Canal for Syria and warn they might act.
Israeli's Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman says that "Israel cannot ignore these provocations," according to ynetnews.com.
"Unfortunately, the international community is not ready to deal with Iran's repeated provocations," Lieberman said, according to the Jerusalem Post.
Lieberman added that the warships was "a provocation that proves Iran's nerve and self-esteem is growing from day to day."
Iran announced plans to deploy warships near Israel and dock at a Syrian port for a year, IsraelNationalNews.com reports.
A senior Israeli official tells the site that "Israel will know how to deal with it."

Isreal, just let ‘em get about 50 miles north of Port Said and the SINK ‘em!
Prayers for the protection of Israel.
Exocet or Harpoon them. Send them to Davey Jones locker. Pick up any survivors for intel purposes. Hold them prisoner and put them on trial. Tell the Iranium government to let the American prisoners they hold in Iran go free and then you get your idiots released and back to you.
That for starts.

Oil prices jumped after Israel said two Iranian warships planned to sail through the Suez canal en route to Syria and hinted at an Israeli response.
There are about 5 threads thus far. It depends on how you framed your search...

Just what Iran wants to hear. Thanks a lot, boys.
Why would Egyptian military let them thru?
“Israel will know how to deal with it.”
The odds of Iran having a Nuke device on these “ships” is very high.
Israel just has to get ready for the S***storm headed their way when they sink them.
1.) They have conformal fuel tanks on the F16's
2.) They have drawing and manufacturinig rights for said tanks.
3.) Short Retrofit time of said tanks.
4.) "Project Green Salad" has additional 707's being converted as air to air refuelers. Numbers run as high as a total of 7 to 9 of these aircraft.
Now what they have doen to their the F-15's I need to do some research on.
We also forget their "Boomers"... Their ships could mysteriously sink and no one would know why......
There could be any number of reasons. Sometimes posters don’t include the original title and that can confuse things a lot.
Riiight, they could be sunk by north Korean subs,
it’s happened before.
When Israel strikes, they don't give these types of warnings. But maybe times have changed.
Iran says its a year long training mission!

As expected by the Muslim Brotherhood, the Camp David Peace Accords left with Mubarak, a point the MSM "accidentally" failed to make.
There are about a million Israelis within range of Hamas rockets in Gaza. I imagine by now there are neighborhood bomb shelters as well as personal bunkers in homes. Casualties will be high but Israel will use an Iranian-provoked war to destroy Hamas and their weapons, most of which they have identified and targeted. Israel performs best when it has to fight multiple enemies simultaneously. God bless them.
They are required by International Law. The Convention of Constantinople the guarantees right of passage of all ships through the Suez Canal during war and peace.
oooh...thinking about this.
Say those ships ARE on a suicide mission. They blow the nukes somewhere along a part of the canal that doesn’t have a big population. It likely would not block the canal, although you’d have a much deeper part of the canal than what it is currently due to the crater.
The water itself wouldn’t be radioactive after a short while...but all the land surrounding it WOULD BE. For quite a while, any ship going through there would be getting large doses of radiation. No one would WANT to go through THAT. They could shut down the canal for years without really damaging it.
The likelihood of this happening? Probably slim. I don’t think Iran would want to piss off Egypt by doing something so egregiously stupid to them.
During oif I flew over the osirak site and believe me there was not much left :-)
“Iran says its a year long training mission!”
Israel will train them how to tread water.
Gosh, 1981? It doesn’t seem that long ago.
Why in hell would they even broadcast this?
30 year anniversary present?
Well I think the Iranians are insane enough to pull something like that. However I would bet the would attack oil. One way to send the world into the dark ages is to cause oil fields to be radioactive. Just the thought of Iranian ships cruising around Saudi should make people nervous.
That is what I worry about in the U.S. A dirty bomb at tank farms or major refineries would pretty much shut us down.
use that military the United States gave you for free
I think Iran wants to get the worlds eyes off the protestors in its streets and the heavy fisted butchering going to take place when it violently supresses them.
Per Fox news, oil prices are already going up as a result of this news.
I would love to see Israel totally destroy the Iranian regime and their thug army.
Those ships likely do not have nuclear weapons aboard, but could have dirty bombs and reactor parts for Syria. Likely they are going to be doing extensive ELINT on Israel.
I think this is just a “poke in the eye”,,,
Too close for a nuke...
They don't even have to do anything but blackmail works for them wonderfully.
If Israel sank these ships, wouldn’t the Suez Canal be blocked to ALL shipping for a considerable length of time?
Crude oil and gas prices would zoom higher.
The IDF should consider this: If Iran has developed a nuclear device, they probably haven’t sufficiently weaponized it yet to fit onto one of their Scud-based missiles. Such a prototype nuclear bomb is simply too large this early in the development process to fit into a 880mm missile. Thus the perfect way to deliver such an oversized bomb is with a ship.
There comes a point when action is necessary, if this is allowed a flood of weapons and military buildup will occur..
Just stop them andd turn them back, if fired on sink them...
But Israel knows what is coming and sooner works better than later for Israel.
“wouldnt the Suez Canal be blocked”
Depends on the method of sinkage....may be not enough large pieces left to block shipping lanes.
The Iranian plan COULD be to scuttle the ships in the canal, thus closing it.

Oh Geez, Wait till we get the MSM in place over there. /s
Not only that, but who is to say that the Iranians don’t have one or more weapons smuggled out of the Soviet Union as it was collapsing...
Just because their own home-grown nuke-building efforts are still at a relatively primitive stage does not mean that they haven’t acquired more advanced technology and/or materials from other sources.
My guess, though, is that this is more likely to be a conventional arms (and troops) supply mission to Syria and onward to Hezbollah. If they were to ship such material via conventional freighters, the materials would be subject to interception and confiscation. If, however, they ship them via Iranian warships they may believe that the materials are immune from seizure.
They may also attempt a bit of grandstanding, such as a breach of the blockade of Gaza, or other types of direct confrontations with Israeli naval forces.
It might be funny to see them get jacked by Somali pirates!
Donning my tinfoil hat:
Imagine an Iranian ship moving throgh the canal. Suddenly, a massive explosion! At precisely the worst location, the ship sinks. Passage through the canal is disrupted! Oil prices skyrocket.
If Iran scuttled their own ship, and blamed an Israeli submarine, they could probably get a lot of bang for the buck.
I can understand the provocation here, but can’t the Iranians also travel around through Gibralter pass and dock at Syria just the same? Long way around, but the same end result?
Other than trying to goad the Israelis into sinking their boats in the canal, is there anything else they can possibly do?
