(Reuters) - Iraq's capital wants the United States to apologize and pay $1 billion for the damage done to the city not by bombs but by blast walls and Humvees since the U.S.-led invasion that toppled Saddam Hussein.
The city's government issued its demands in a statement on Wednesday that said Baghdad's infrastructure and aesthetics have been seriously damaged by the American military.
"The U.S. forces changed this beautiful city to a camp in an ugly and destructive way, which reflected deliberate ignorance and carelessness about the simplest forms of public taste," the statement said.
"Due to the huge damage, leading to a loss the Baghdad municipality cannot afford...we demand the American side apologize to Baghdad's people and pay back these expenses."

Not only that, these blast walls kept Iraqi resident’s homes (such as they are) from being destroyed by IDF and them from being killed by same. Ingrates.

After they’ve paid for all of the blood, and lives of our young men and women have shed so they could be free, and when they pay us back for the billions we’ve spent on helping them stay that way, then we can talk. Ungrateful, disgusting, my opinion of the Iraqi government just hit bottom.
He will also make sure he bows low enough to kiss their derrière and makes us all do the same. Then we will bleed our bank accounts and that of our children and their children. Maybe they would like us all to jump on a plane, fly over there and become their slaves while we are at it.
Has Islam paid for 9-11 and their other terrorist acts? Has Islam paid for the increased business costs in America resulting form security issues? Has Islam paid one iota for the loss of American rights and freedoms in America?

Point out to them they now have several square miles of trash heaps filled with Saddam "memorabilia" in them. They're free to sell them on eBay for whatever they can get. The bullet holes are just an added certificate of authenticity.
Germans tore down the Berlin Wall on their own. We've already done the hard work for the Iraqis.
The Marshall Plan attended to that creating a very great nation and ally. Even elevated it into the G7.
Now Obama is seeking to destroy that relationship as well.

As soon as they pay Kuwait the billions and billions that their fleeing troops’ vandalism did in 1991.
This is akin to the time when my PLT was sent to secure an post-blast IED site in Baghdad. A 100+ pound IED had detonated on a Humvee convoy, killing and maiming half a dozen Soldiers. The people who lived on the street where the terrorists had obviously taken their time to dig and emplace the IED demanded money from us for all the broken glass from the IED. These demands were being made as the charred bodies were still being pulled from the wreckage.
Had they demanded it of me, I probably would’ve buttstroked at least one of them. Dishonorable animals, all. We should’ve nuked the site from orbit.
