Latest radio report. Heading for Chicago?
Yes, which is INCREDIBLY funny to me.
Irony is delicious.
They are "fugitives", and running to stay out of the reach of the Long Arm of the Law.
Chicago is a good guess, as there's plenty o' corrupt politico's there, along with beaucoup Union Goons.....
Time for the Tea Party to find them and “escort” them back to the Wisconsin state capitol.
I’m sure they have left the light on at the Obama / Ayers compound.
Do you think the Rockford hotel got sick of our phone calls?
We need eye witnesses some how. They may be sending out false reports to put people off.
Where ever they end up they’re going to have a big crowd, I bet.
When the going gets tough, elected Democrats flee to Rockford and then to Chicago.
Cowards. Rob the people and run off to leave the people to fight among themselves.
Darn - I had to sell my helicopter due to poor economic conditions, a short yellow bus would be easy to spot from the air. LOL
They are headed to a “sit-down” with Rahm!
It was fun none-the-less. N...E...X...T...
It’s sad that they are willing to spend so much money contributing to the economy in Illinois and are neglecting their elected responsibilities in Wisconsin.
“Running away, eh? You yellow bastards!”
If true, this is going much better than the Texas incident.
Illinois Tea partiers.....get ready to move.
Keep them on the run. Maybe they’ll crossover the Mexican border.
That's why they're in the Dem stronghold of Illinois. Any attempt to bring them back to Wisc will be result in those attempting it being shot by Illinois state troopers.
>>Time for the Tea Party to find them and escort them back to the Wisconsin state capitol.<<
The ball is in the court of the Governor.
These people refuse to do their job. They have quit.
Let the Governor replace them until emergency elections can be held.
Hunt them mercilessly. Get those dudes from Mantracker, on the Science Channel, to find them.
They’ve abandoned their offices. Procedures should be immediately initiated to fill the vacant offices with special elections.
SECTION 7. Each house shall be the judge of the elections, returns and qualifications of its own members; and a majority of each shall constitute a quorum to do business, but a smaller number may adjourn from day to day, and may compel the attendance of absent members in such manner and under such penalties as each house may provide. There are 19 Rs and 14 Ds. Where do they get that they need twenty state senators (60%) for a quorum?
As they say in the radio business, “Stay tuned for further developments as we get them”.
You know the Texas demreps did this in 2003 and we set the law on them.
Holed up in Oklahoma they were.
WI tea partiers should drive down and grid lock them where ever they end up.
Forget Mantracker...send the boys from American Pickers.
WTMJ said the WI Assembly will take it up tomorrow and the Senate will have to take it up when they get a quorum.
According to others who have posted that live in Wisconsin, to pass fiscal bills there is a separate 3/5 quorum requirement. However...read further in section 7 and a majority quorum is all that is necessary for the Wisconsin House to set penalties for absent members. And they aren’t restricted in what those penalties might be...how about forfeiture of the seat after a certain period and a heavy monetary fine? Then direct the Governor to appoint replacements until an election is held. Problem solved and the yellow Rats sit there in Illinois like idiots.
That's an interesting question. Perhaps it's a separate set of "Senate rules", agreed to by the Senate?
The Texas Senate has a long-standing rule that requires the approval of 2/3rds of Senators to bring legislation to the floor. As far as I know, it's not in the Constitution, but the rule has been renewed every legislative session.
If it's just parliamentary procedure, then maybe the procedure can be changed with a simple majority vote?
Senate Rule 15. Roll call, quorum. Before proceeding to business, the roll of the members shall be called, and the names of those present and those absent shall be entered on the journal. A member present during any part of a roll call day shall be included in the official attendance roll call for that day. A majority of the membership presently serving must be present to constitute a quorum for the transaction of business; a smaller number, however, can adjourn and may compel the attendance of absent members. When a roll call discloses the lack of a quorum, further business may not be conducted until a quorum is obtained, but the members present may take measures to procure a quorum or may adjourn."
Can't be a quorum issue, unless there are only 16 Republican votes. However, I've read that Walker has the votes.
“and may compel the attendance of absent members in such manner and under such penalties as each house may provide.”
They should issue arrest warrants...
Flee Levin just said the short bus has left the hotel and is heading north.
Some of us were calling the hotel in Rockford asking to speak to our state senators. When I first called I was told that there were no Wisconsin senators staying there. The next couple of times I called I was told that they wouldn’t tell me anything because of “privacy laws”.
I think the Rockford resort kicked them out. They don’t need this headache.
Simple math. Sixty percent of 33 is 19.8 or 20.
>>>WI tea partiers should drive down and grid lock them where ever they end up.
WI tea partiers should pursue legal action to declare their offices vacated and initiate special elections to fill the vacancies.
Good point. Hey Gov, appoint replacement senators and watch them scream.
Now that the word is out, they are changing bunkers. Probably on a charter bus together or in rented cars.
I made the same suggestion when this happened in Texas.
In all seriousness, what does it take to declare a legislative office vacant and call a special election?
Does the officer holder have to die? If someone just refuses to show up, does the state have to wait until the next regularly scheduled election?
Anyone from WI know the details?
I find it hard to believe they can sneak out of that hotel without anyone noticing.
Flying to Chile to hide out in a mine.
It would be good to get a bunch of those laugh boxes and sit outside their offices to ridicule them when they eventually return.
Hope the Tea Party folks get a pan and a large spoon and then beat on pan until the folks go back to Wisconsin.
If true, then it was all just a stupid publicity stunt...and come to think of it, community organizers and all, that's really the Rats ever do - act out stupid publicity stunts.
The thing I don’t understand about the whole unions issue is why the state can’t just say they will hire whoever agrees to their terms. With unemployment like it is, I doubt they’d have problems finding people who would take their terms. There’s nothing in the law that says they have to hire this or that person, is there?
Is a short bus with Wisconsin plates that common in northern Illinois?
Son, you can’t outrun Google.
Somehow I am picturing these democrats doing a Blues Brothers car chase to Chicago.
