This race is dedicated to the memory of Dale Earnhardt - It has been 10 years since his tragic death in turn 4 of the last lap at the Daytona 500 Feb 18, 2001.

Lap 3 will be a silent lap with three fingers held high for Big E.

It hasn't been the same since you left.

For me, it hasn't been the same since R. Petty, C. Yarborough, D. Pearson, and B. Allison left.

Is everyone jazzed with the 2x2 racing? I saw a bunch of it today and I’m not on board yet. The strategy - follow a fast car until yours overheats, switch spots and lose track position. Did I pretty much sum it up?

thanks - it’s pretty rough, but I was tired and couldn’t get the frame even.

Luckily my computer/browser or ISP crashed right after I posted it. Whew.

Yes - that sums it up.

Duel 2 was a bit better today even with all the zero bars in it. I think they watched the first one and made adjustments.

Jr said today Dale Jr to Letarte: “I want you to look for more speed...and I’m trying to say that in a nice way.

Why 2nd race more dicey than 1st? Denny Hamlin: “We saw how much the first race was getting away with & we thought we’d push the limits.”

Dale Jr.:”Anyone can win it. With this type of racing .. if you get up front & you’re the 2 guys, 1 of them is going to win that race.”

I asked Dale Earnhardt Jr. if drivers will get better at two-car swap to make D500 more dicey. His answer? “No. Sorry.”

Anyone have a clue on C drivers? Gonna get ugly late in the season when nobody is getting any points.

Hard to say how this will look with the full field.
It appears things will string out much more than the previous decade or so.
Of course with the drafting and spot swapping there will likely be plenty of yellows to bunch things back up.

Thanks - I had a lot of trouble with it.

But, as Lance used to tell Jr “It is what it is” LOL

At the end of Duel1 MM and Lance were complaining that Jr dumped him, but they didn’t know that Jr said the #5 car was running very badly, he called it ‘dragging’. Mark aimed for a hole in the middle and Jr backed off because the 48 was next to him and he didn’t want to wreck him. That’s a teammate.

I’m mostly worried about Steven Wallace - thankfully Conway didn’t make the race and then we have Robby Gordon. He’s most of the reason Jr has to go to the back Sunday.

Somebody please help me figure this out. Why did the 24th place finisher in Duel 1 (Gilliland) qualify, but the guy that finished *ahead* of him (McDowell) didn’t? Or Logano getting in finishing 23rd in Duel 2, but Derrike Cope finishes eight spots ahead in 15th and doesn’t make the field? Owner points from 2010?
