For the first time since he was banned from leading weekly friday prayers in Egypt 30 years ago, prominent Muslim scholar Yusuf al-Qaradawi will lead thousands in the weekly prayers from Cairo’s Tahrir Square on Friday.

Sources told Al Arabiya that a military force will accompany the head of the International Union of Muslim Scholars from his home to Tahrir Square, provide security for the prayers and accompany him back to his residence.

Al-Qaradawi last delivered a Friday prayer sermon in Egypt in 1981 after the assassination of former President Anwar el-Sadat.

I don't know about you, but I just had that strange Deja Vu feeling.

That was the very first thing I thought when I saw the headline.

Hey, Bahrain....are you paying attention?

I hope Rush has captured sound bites of every big cheese Obama-loving politician, media star and befuddled academic publicly and exultingly screeching all week that "democracy has returned to Egypt".

When the inevitable unfolds in the land of De Nile, el Rushbo can play the sound bites over the air for a solid three hours non-stop while we have fantastic fun at home concurrently posting on a live FR thread titled "Wrong Again, You Morons".

Those that actually have no idea of the past, to begin with. As amazing as it may sound, not many people remembers (or maybe even knows) what happened that other Feb 11. It’s kind of creepy. That exact same people will be “rockin’ the casbah” as soon as it becomes fashionable, not a second earlier.

And it sounds like our Egyptian Khomenei is finding allies in the military.

Gee, I am getting that deja-vu feeling.

Oh, I know. Anderson Cooper told me. It's 1989 all over again.

Don’t worry about him, didn’t Jimmi Carter say they’re OK??

..and John McCain said, " don't fear barak obama as president", see how well that is working.

The Egyptian Khomeini has arrived!!!

The Egyptian “useful idiots” were led out to pave the way, and now the hijacking of what they thought was their “democracy” movement begins.

Ghonim Wael Ghonim
I loved Sheikh Qaradawi Khutbah today. Was truly inspired when he said: Today I’m going to address both Muslims and Christians. Respect!

"your concept requires moral equivocation"

No, I am not making a moral judgment at all. This is simply the ostensibly legal way nations conduct affairs betwixt themselves.

Egypt has done nothing yet that would imply any intervention is appropriate or necessary.

Yes, they may in the future...in fact, it's now likely. Still, until they do it's none of our business.

The Suez remains open, there is no state-sponsored terrorism, no WMD and tanks are not massing on the Israeli border.

Those should be our only triggers.

Did you notice this in the comments?

Does anyone notice that the Wiki page of the muslim brotherhood has been edited in the past few weeks? Look at what remains of the muslim brotherhoods goals for example:

-Strengthening the internal structure
-Administrative discipline
-Recruitment and settlement of the Dawa'a (lectures and speeches about Islam)
-Energizing the organisation's work
-Energizing political work fronts (e.g. in civil political organizations)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muslim_Brotherhood#Primary_goals
Nothing about the caliphate anymore...
They removed the following as their primary goal:
-reinstatement of the caliphate and reunite the "dar el Islam

We don't have to make a "call." Obama is happy as a clam with the development as it is unfolding.

No, I missed that.

It should be noted that the muslim brotherhood’s goals are well documented and archived on various sites, including here.

As somebody once said, “There is no place to hide on the internet.”

“Bylaws Disappear from Brotherhood’s English-language Site”

IPT News
February 28, 2011

SNIPPET: “The Muslim Brotherhood seems to be trying to preserve its recently burnished image as a moderate party dedicated to maintaining a modern, secular, and just Egypt.

In keeping with this apparent internal strategy, the Brotherhood has removed its explicitly worded bylaws from its English-language website, the Investigative Project on Terrorism has learned (H/T to the Strategic Engagement Group). The bylaws are still available via an archived version of the webpage.

The bylaws have long been a source of discussion and debate on the Internet because of the group’s stated intention to create an Islamic state, uniting Muslims around the world, while “building a new basis of human civilization.” Selected sections read as follows:

“E – The need to work on establishing the Islamic State, which seeks to effectively implement the provisions of Islam and its teachings.

Defend the nation against the internal enemies, try to present the true teachings of Islam and communicate its ideas to the world.

G – The sincere support for a global cooperation in accordance with the provisions of the Islamic Sharia, which would safeguard the personal rights, freedom of speech for active and constructive participation towards building a new basis of human civilization as is ensured by the overall teachings of Islam.”

The group’s bold and unambiguous calls for re-establishing the Islamic Khalifa have startled many, and have fueled distrust as to its true intentions despite its current public face.

It’s not clear why the bylaws disappeared, but the timing is highly suspicious.”
