WASHINGTON (AP) -- After stunning colleagues by recalling that she once had an abortion, Democratic Rep. Jackie Speier of California made clear Friday that the procedure was not something she welcomed and was done because the baby was not going to survive.
Speier, first elected in 2008, took to the House floor on Thursday evening during a debate over stripping funding to Planned Parenthood.

LOL - I was born in 1944, and have often been asked if I was named after Jackie Kennedy. I always reply, “When I was born, nobody had ever HEARD of Jackie Kennedy”!

The way she described how the baby slipped from the uterus into the vagina, it sounds like a miscarriage. Unless, the baby was yanked from the uterus then it would be an abortion. Personally, I think she is doing some truth twisting here (usually called lying) to support Planned Parenthood.
You can take that to the bank.
It has nothing to do with "Americans" not wanting to pay for it, but everything to do with the fact that God said "Thous Shalt Not Commit Murder". Please get a clue.
Actually (per that same Wiki article) she took Jacqueline as her confirmation name (which would have been around 1962), then adopted Jackie as her ‘called by’ name. Her given name was “Karen Lorraine.”

What most of us call an abortion is, medically, an "elective abortion."
In the case of miscarriages, those terms are used up until about 22 weeks.
Because all miscarriages in medical terms are abotions the different is between spontanious and surgical the first being a natural one the later not.Her baby was not dead it was just not developing right and she was told they did not think it would survive but it was not already dead.

God was gracious and merciful enough to give me a vision of my 3 babies, one day while I was praying in the mid 90’s. It gave me a lot of peace, comfort and it broke the grieving that I had suffered with for so many years. I knew they were in heaven but, to actually see them there was a great comfort and such a blessing. God is good all the time.
Someone just explained to me what that means. A missed abortion simply means that what should have naturally occurred didn’t —missed.
I totally agree. It was like what the docs called my miscarriage. They called it a missed abortion. Which simply means my body never miscarried my dead baby naturally, the doctors had to go in and take it. I carried my baby like that for almost 3 months. Ironically the doctor said the reason he didn’t do this earlier is because it’s safer for a woman to naturally miscarry then for the doctor to have to go in and take it.
