Update: We have been notified by the Republican Party that Ezell Lee has qualified for re-election as a Republican in Senate District 47. As of a couple days ago, no one else had qualified to run for this seat.
Original story: In a major hattip to one of our readers, Sen. Michael Watson wrote on his Facebook wall that Sen. Ezell Lee has qualified for re-election as a Republican. Lee has been serving in the legislature as a Democrat going back to 1987.
I spoke with another state Senator earlier today who said that Lee has recently started voting with the Republicans more frequently and that this was the talk; and Lee himself had even said he was looking to do this. And the Republicans were certainly happy to welcome him.
As for Lee, when I asked one source for confirmation he said you never know what Lee is going to do. Over the past year, there have been talks of Lee running for lieutenant governor as a Democrat, running for re-election as a Democrat, and about a month ago he was talking about retiring. But it does look like he has opted for re-election as a Republican.
The main thing Im waiting on is confirmation of verified paperwork from the GOP, and I imagine they would also send out a press release some time as well.
Lee is also known for having one of the most gerrymandered districts in the Senate. I would imagine his district will see major changes, and that is probably part of his reasoning behind running as a Republican.
A Lee switch would give the Republicans 27 members in 52-man chamber.
Thank God!
Can the folks in WI find a republican senator willing to stoop to “being” a ‘rat for a day?
Mississippi ping
Cha-ching!
They need one Democrat to show up in Wisconsin . .the switch.
The GOP should take the MS House in November.
It is my impression that Wisconsin Democrats are not like Mississippi Democrats.
It’s not that they need a democrat, they need 20 PEOPLE and there are only 19 Republicans.
The 20th could also be a Republican.
Its just the way the presstitutes have been reporting it.

Boy, are you right there. Well, there is Jamie Franks, Steve Holland and Billy McCoy. They would fit right in.
Another former Democrat bolts. This is good news.
An amazing turn of events, huh?
This is absolutely fantastic!
Thank you so much for the ping!
They just need one more member, no matter which party, to make a quorum.
That word “quorum” doesn’t look right to me. lol
What good would that do?
