No biggie; the heir-apparent always wears the crown of his father, and has been doing so for thousands of years.
Let’s not pretend, though, that there’s any sort of “democracy” involved; North Korea has very obviously descended into the sort of monarchical despotism embodied in, say, Ivan the Terrible of Russia.
