Wisconsin Gov.-elect Scott Walker was the recipient of the unwelcome news that he will be inheriting a projected budget deficit as high as $3.3 billion over the next two years. Last week, the Wisconsin Department of Administration (DOA) published a report announcing there would be a $1.5 billion gap between state revenue and state spending through June 30, 2013. It appears that the news is much grimmer than that, however.

Of course they will feign shock and surprise and say they had no idea.
I knew this “surplus” spew was crap. Like what state right now is running on a surplus with the unemployment rates so high and the debt so high? Ridiculous.
$3.3B deficit? What a great time to bend over for the public worker unions.
The Obama stimulus at work. Barry to the rescue. What BS.
I don’t know whether this article is accurate, but it is a far cry from what you posted on another thread.
Rachel Maddow is spreading lies about Wisconsin possessing a surplus.
This oughtta stiffen some conservative spines.
The lala class had to know jolly well that move couldn’t last forever, or even more than one year.
Sorry chums, but all the unicorn skittles have been eaten.
Yeah, Rachel Maddow at it again. Where ever does she get her wrong facts from? BTW, she says she is a Rhodes scholar right? Shouldn’t she be saying that she’s a Zimbabweian scholar now? I mean being a Lefty Liberal cause person and all that.
The next Republican President will also inherit a deficit from Obama that we will run out of zeroes to quantify.
I heard about the budget surplus lie yesterday. Some liberal was spouting it as if it was a complete matter of fact.
Without those Union Soldiers to do their fighting for them the Democrat Party, the Radical Socialist Democrat Party is dead meat.
The Unions have to go. They have to be totally eliminated from government of every State.
The only Union should be the Union of the 50 States, er, or is that uh 57 States?
WI Gov.-elect Scott Walker? He’s been governor for some weeks now. Gov.-elect only applies to the time from the election to the swearing in. Count on the MadExam to get in wrong... deliberately.
Sorry PIF, you are wrong. Look at the tag on the original post for the thread: 11/24/2010. At that time he would have been Governor-Elect.
This is from 11/24/2010 - posted in reaction to the liberal blogosphere spreading disinformation that he inherited a surplus and deliberately spent it all to have an excuse to go after the unions. Yes - there are people that crazy to be spreading that kind of disinformation as fact.
Wisconsin Unfunded liability: $63Billion
Public Pension Plans Less Than 30% Funded
Illinois SERS - 23%
Indiana Teachers - 26%
Connecticut SERS - 27%
Oklahoma Teachers - 27%
Rhode Island ERS - 29%
West Virginia Teachers - 29%
Illinois Universities - 30%
So... I want more unicorn skittles!
We are so screwed.
Heres how it happened: in 1999, Wisconsins Legislature decided that state employees needed better retirement benefits, so we made those benefits richer at a cost of $4 billion.
Hey, I think FR should think about a ‘like’ button.
Anymore I end up looking to click on it when I see a comment someone makes that I like...LOL.
There was at one time a “like” button for article, though...but that was brief and I guess they decided to scrap that feature.
*like* with a thumb’s up
I like that idea.
