Politicians Watching Tapped-out Voters Rise Up In Anger are Getting Nervous (You can help)
Ronals Reagan Club ^ | February 20, 2011 | Vanity, Various

Posted on 02/20/2011 3:21:28 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

Listen up FReepers from all states. "High-Speed Rail" is a national problem (left to your children and grandchildren to support) not just a problem for Florida and a few other states. Liberals have all of us mapped out and in their sights.

This HUGE new government bureaucracy is getting ready to leave the station! And they will never pull the plug on this money pit. We will be told to subsidize it forever. Environmentalists, along with the msm and coordinating liberal groups, will have done their work and it will be "vital national emergency" to have and to keep rail vs cars.

A quick aside: How many unions will be interwoven into High-Speed Rail? Those same union bosses orchestrating the Madison march on the state capital (and their handmaidens hiding out in a resort in Illinois), who back each other up in “solidarity” in Wisconsin (Ohio) today will march in “solidarity” tomorrow over any plans to de-fund High-Speed Rail that WILL be coming to your state, YOU too will be asked to "contribute" your FAIR SHARE for the "health and prosperity" of the state and the country and Mother Earth.

Read this then watch the video linked below, that clearly explains the High-Speed Rail scam being shoved down Floridians throats (It's an information ammunition clip).

You easily can substitute other government programs in your mind as you listen and watch about the scam that will pick taxpayers pockets to pay vendors (big and small) who will buy politicians through campaign cash "kick-backs" and keep them in office as reliable votes for more funding when those pesky cost overruns appear and they never have a "profitable" bottom line.

And as the number of pockets being filled grows, the miles of track for this gravy train will grow. A Nationwide Network of High-Speed Rail Corridors are being set up to keep the fat cats and their politicians happy and prosperous on our confiscated dollars (and we're not talking ticket prices here). The rail lines shown in that link will "of course" have to be connected.

Instead of building a High-Speed Rail system, this scam has been designed as a reliable, high speed transfer of tax payer money into politically connected pockets (everyone will "enjoy" the China and Buffet tie-ins and go, “Ah-ha! So that's it! Of course!"). And *think* how many JOBS they will tell us this will create....how High-Speed Rail is where the "working Americans" can find stable, reliable employment with good benefits -- more government workers!! (They just have to keep people unemployed and they will have to take these government and union jobs).

I guess when you have big players like China and Buffet (along with tens of thousands of others eye-balling that fat tit), you don't mind making up cartoon numbers and bottom lines to sell it to the suckers who will foot the bill for their profits. The video exposes the numbers and the lies.

Floridians should email this video to their congressman. The pol recipient needs to know that you have watched it with great alarm and anger and you have sent it to everyone in Florida you know and have asked them to send it to everyone they know, etc. [All FReepers need to distribute this information -- get it out to citizens and voters in all states.]

The video runs about 10 minutes but it packs a HUGE [[PUNCH]] because it explains things CLEARLY.

***((VIDEO)) New Tax Funded Ball and Chain ((VIDEO))***

And it isn't going to stop in Florida. The High-Speed Rail scam has planted seeds in many major cities. So click on the video link and watch what is set to happen in your state (It's probably already started with small inner city lines that keep expanding).

Politicians are watching tapped-out voters RISE UP IN ANGER.

They are nervous about informed citizens going to the polls and turning them out of office.

It's time to kick out any politician that backs High-Speed rail.

Here is one who already got the message.

The video is well done. But you do not have to watch it to know that High Speed Rail is a boondogle.

Maybe you don't but it gives specific ammunition to people -- pointers on how they can attack these plans in their states -- triggers, so they will recognize the signs, so they will know that it is IMPORTANT to send it around to people who aren't as savvy as you.

WOW- that would be infuriating. I’ve had conversations with Mica’s office for over 30 minutes and never once have they been rude or disinterested...in fact they OFTEN ask me questions about why I think this or that- not in a nasty way- but actually interested.

Good luck with your new guy!

Exactly! LOCKED IN!

A good piece worth reading.

Ryan's Charge Up Entitlement Hill

......President Obama can't stop mentioning him. Only this week, the president justified his own failure to tackle entitlements in his dud of a 2012 budget by saying that "the chairman of the House Republican budgeteers didn't sign on" to the final report of Mr. Obama's deficit commission.

What are they all so afraid of?

"Did he really say that?" asks Mr. Ryan about the president, sitting in his House office this week after another day of the hearings he now runs as chairman of the House Budget Committee. "I'm actually flattered." Perhaps they're worried, he says, "because we put out more than just bromides and platitudes. We put out specifics."

He certainly has done that, most famously with his "Road Map" that is the full monty of conservative tax and entitlement reform. Mr. Ryan knows it won't pass, not even in the current GOP House, but he drew it up in 2009 to start a debate and show that a future of limited government was still possible. He adds that he opposed the Obama deficit commission report because it failed to do anything serious about health-care entitlements, and he proposed an alternative that the commission rejected. Mr. Obama has never proposed his alternative.......

......Mr. Obama dropped his budget this week that does almost nothing about everything. To call it a punt is unfair to the game of football. That abdication makes Mr. Ryan, by dint of his expertise and his influence with other Republicans, the most important fiscal voice in Washington. As supply-siders used to say—and Mr. Ryan came of political age as a protege of Jack Kemp—Mr. Ryan is now the man on the margin. He says he's determined not to waste the opportunity, notwithstanding the huge political risks.

What's the White House political calculation behind its budget? "The fiscal strategy is to hang on to all the government we've grown, and hopefully rhetoric will get us through the moment. It strikes me as a posture or position to keep the gains of the last two years in place—the bump up in discretionary spending, the creation of these new entitlements—to lock in their gains, bank their wins, and then hang on through the rest of this year. And they believe they have the flourishing rhetorical skills to navigate the politics in the meantime," Mr. Ryan says. ......

....Paradoxically, however, he says the president's budget has helped Republicans. By failing to lead with such a loud thud, Mr. Obama has helped the cause of reformers within the House GOP. Some in the leadership had been wary of taking on entitlement reform—that's Medicaid, Medicare and perhaps Social Security—but this week tipped them over the edge.

"We have a lot of fiscal conservatives here. We have a determined caucus. . . . That is very helpful. We have a fiscal reality that is obvious and we have a president who is failing to lead. We feel duty bound to lead ourselves," he says.

Along with conference chairman Kevin McCarthy, Mr. Ryan has been doing an internal road show for all 87 House freshmen and many senior members on the looming debt and entitlement crackup, three sessions a week, six or eight members at a time, 10 minutes of PowerPoint, 50 minutes of questions and "listening."

He rolls out a chart comparing the debt trajectory under Mr. Obama's fiscal 2010 budget (a line shooting almost straight up) and the GOP alternative he offered last year (a relatively flat line sending it back down from its Obama peaks). "That's the chart that always gets them," he says. Reforming Medicaid alone won't get the deficit and debt on a downward path, he says. You have to tackle Medicare too. .......

Liberals love rail travel. There’s a certain romance that they feel when they reminisce about those days in Europe when their Jewish friends were efficiently moved about on rail. I’m sure that they’d like to move conservatives around America in a similar manner.

“..Over the years, the House repeatedly passed SunRail, but it died in the Senate, where Republican Paula Dockery killed it year after year by pointing out it cost too much money. ..” ~ Cincinatus’ Wife

Paula Dockery, the apparent leader of these crazy GOPers opposing Gov. Rick Scott, is the wife of Doc Dockery!

Who is Doc Dockery, you ask?

Doc Dockery has been the leader of the pro- high speed rail consortium. Mrs. Dockery changed her [original] vote:

NOTE THE DATE: April 08, 2009 |By Dan Tracy, Sentinel Staff Writer:

The $1.2 billion project needs legislative approval for an insurance policy that, critics contend, would lay too much liability on the state and not enough on CSX Corp., which would sell its tracks for the commuter train but would continue to share use of those tracks. Chira, a former Orange County commissioner, encountered opposition to SunRail during a high-speed rail meeting last week in Tallahassee. Longtime high-speed enthusiast Doc Dockery was the sole vote against a resolution supporting SunRail; he resigned from the high-speed rail authority Monday.

Dockery, whose wife, Paula, is a Republican senator leading the charge against SunRail in the Senate, said the two systems should not be “mixed.”

FLORIDA TEA PARTY HIJACKED – CONSERVATIVE ACTIVISTS DECLARE WAR
http://shark-tank.net/2010/01/28/tea-party-debate-brews-up/

In Florida, three men disguised as Tea Party activists are flat-out hijacking the movement to promote unfit candidates.

The name “TEA Party” was quietly registered in Florida last summer and rolled out to the great surprise and dismay of state activists. Nobody had heard of the founders; nobody had met them at Tea Party events.

Soon the party announced their support for State Senator ___Paula Dockery___, a RINO candidate for governor, and threatened legitimate TPOs with trademark litigation if they continued using the Tea Party moniker.

A spokesman for the newly registered party, Doug Guetzloe, has a long and notorious record of running political trick plays and compromising on core conservative ideals.

The deceptive Florida TEA Party could be used to promote Guetzloe’s clients and, more importantly, hurt their opponents.

Guetzloe has, for instance, spoken supportively of liberal Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL), who Tea Party activists hope to replace with a more conservative, liberty-minded candidate this November.

He also has been an advocate of Dockery’s candidacy, which is requiring probable Republican nominee Bill McCollum, a solid conservative, to dedicate resources to a primary battle that would be better spent in the highly contentious general election campaign.

Worse: a U.S. Senate candidate by the name of __Jorge Lovenguth__ has made noise about running under the [fake] Florida TEA Party in the general election

...Fortunately, Florida Tea Party activists and organizations quickly united in a federal court action against the perpetrators of the new party.

Their complaint against the Florida TEA Party and its founders, filed last week in Miami federal district court, asks for a declaratory judgment separating the two groups and a court order to stop the party’s threats of litigation.

The unified coalition, built so rapidly behind the lawsuit, is an indication of just how robust our Tea Party movement is today.

South Florida Tea Party v. TEA Party proves TPOs are united when we face a common enemy out-of-step with our shared values, bent on hijacking our movement.

....We must protect our independence vigilantly and pursue our shared goals with enthusiasm and collaboration. Every day we are not working together, we take one step forward and two steps back.

With the unity we have demonstrated against the so-called TEA Party of Florida, we proved we are at our best when we stay focused on the whites of the enemies’ eyes.”

Michael Johns, a former Heritage Foundation policy analyst and White House speechwriter, is one of the founders and national leaders of the Tea Party movement. He is Chairman of The Patriot Caucus, a national Tea Party organization, and a board member of the Nationwide Tea Party Coalition.

In making his decision to ax funding for the high-speed rail, Scott used the authority of the referendum (s) that voted it down.

Lawmakers Want to Route Rail Around Scott
http://www.sunshinestatenews.com/story/lawmakers-want-route-rail-around-scott

“...Meanwhile, some of the biggest __nonlegislative proponents__ of the train continued to sharply criticize Scott’s decision as they cheered efforts to work around it.

“At least today I’m not using four-letter words,” said ___Rich Templin, vice president of one of the state’s largest labor unions, the AFL-CIO___, which said it backed the idea because it believes the construction and the train would create jobs. “This is a tragedy, a disaster of unmitigated proportions.”

WOW! Matcgett-PI you are font of information.

That Dockery thing was confusing me. You've cleared it up.

I'm not in Florida but see the implication of this for the country as a whole.

Now this TEA Party fraud vs the TRUE Tea Party is IMPORTANT. I believe the fraudulent TEA group will try to disguise itself around the country. These people have no shame or moral foundation. They will do anything to advance socialism, including stealing identities.

".....The proposed high-speed rail train that would link Orlando with Lakeland and Tampa will never happen if the planned SunRail commuter train through Central Florida is killed in the state Senate, mass-transit supporters said Tuesday.

"It's a double whammy," said Florida High Speed Rail Authority Chairman Lee Chira.

Chira told the Orange County Commission his venture needs "connectivity" -- a hook-up with SunRail -- to be successful.

Federal funds talk

High-speed rail was considered a lost cause until the recent decision by the Obama administration to make $8 billion in federal tax dollars available for projects featuring trains capable of going more than 110 mph.".........

“In Alaska its great during the summer but not working all winter is killing me because I do absolutely nothing.”

Agree. Alaskan winters aren’t very conducive to good mental health. When I lived in Anchorage (I’m embarrassed to say), after work we headed to the Blue Fox for a few hours to socialize and play Pong. On weekends, after (we hoped) it had frozen enough, we’d go to Big Lake and drive between bars on “roads” plowed over the lake. Being so desperate for something to do, our group decided to celebrate Groundhog Day and St. Swithen’s day (whoever he is). And that was WITH a job; can’t even imagine not having work as a diversion to offset the boredom and darkness.

Now I regret all of those wasted hours/days.

Agree with all you said. I’m more libertarian than GOP or simple conservative, and despise the government’s intrusion into 90% of our lives. I can’t let myself dwell on it or go into a blue funk and get angry.

And the fact that Hussein “doesn’t take much shine to the quaint notions of liberty and freedom” makes me pray often each day that he’ll be defeated in ‘12. Oh... and be defeated by someone better than he is. Remember when we thought Clinton was the worst it could get?

Time to End Obama’s Costly High-Speed Rail Program
http://heritage.org/Research/Reports/2011/02/Time-to-End-Obamas-Costly-High-Speed-Rail-Program
Published on February 11, 2011 by Ronald Utt, Ph.D. Backgrounder #2520

TALKING POINTS
1 President Barack Obama’s latest proposal to spend $54 billion on high-speed rail (HSR) will worsen the deficit and undermine the nation’s economy.
2 The President’s HSR plan is faltering as two statesWisconsin and Ohiohave returned to Washington more than $1 billion in HSR grants, and Florida may soon follow suit.
3 The $3 billion in federal money to be invested in the California project may be lost forever as the state’s precarious finances and the project’s huge cost overruns (50 percent in two years) doom the system.
4 Experience in Europe and Asia indicates that HSR systems are very expensive to build and operate, and they attract only a modest share of the traveling public.
5 Despite Congress’s commitment of significant funding to the program, the President’s HSR program is in a state of collapse.
6 Congress should terminate the HSR program, rescind any unspent funds, and apply them to deficit reduction.

Revised and updated April 13, 2010 - Published on March 19, 2010 by Ronald Utt, Ph.D. Backgrounder #2389

TALKING POINTS
1 President Barack Obama’s endorsement of a high-speed rail plan will commit the United States to an exceptionally expensive form of transportation.
2 The President is also committing the taxpayers to a perpetual stream of vast operating subsidies to keep the system running.
3 An Amtrak study found that passenger rail subsidies in six European countries totaled $42 billion per year, proportionately similar to what the U.S. federal government spends on all transportation.
4 Despite these subsidies, only 7.9 percent of all surface passengers in these six countries use rail, while only 6.1 percent of passengers in all of Europe use rail.
5 Despite these high subsidies for European rail, passenger rail’s share of the market has declined over the past decade, while faster and cheaper airlines have gained.
