Full title: Obama accused of 'double standards' as family go skiing just days after telling Americans to sacrifice their own holidays (shortenend to fit within word limit)

President Obama has been accused of having double standards after appealing for Americans to sacrifice their holidays just days before his wife and children went on a costly skiing trip.

First Lady Michelle Obama and daughters Malia and Sasha are said to be on a 'private family trip' to Colorado for Presidents' Day Weekend...

Although the Obamas will pay for a portion of the skiing trip, taxpayers will still shoulder many of the costs.

'I don't know whether to laugh or cry,' said one of the president's most outspoken critics, conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh. 'He's got the single largest deficit in the history of the country and he's trying to tell us that we really cut back here.'

They (you may have noted in another article that MO took along a “group” of friends in addition to her daughters) will probably just all bed down (sleeping bags and stuff) in one of the cheaper rooms to “spread the cost” all around! /s

What do you think they will give for a wedding present?

Some fine dinnerware?

Or maybe a bust for the mantle?

They always take a few hundred ‘friends’ to mooch off the taxpayers as well! I don’t remember Pres Bush wagging a bunch of people along on any of his trips.

I want to put a stop to ANY Pres being allowed to drag a bunch of people along on trips where taxpayers are FORCED to pay for it! I don’t care if they pay a tiny portion of a plane ticket, I want them to STOP allowing anyone to tag along on taxpayer’s money, period!

If I pay for anyone’s vacation, I want it to be MINE!

Obama’s net worth is $5M

You can check the net worth of all US presidents here — most were quite wealthy.

Snub for Obamas as Royal sources reveal they will not be invited to Prince William’s wedding

President Obama and his wife Michelle will not be invited to Prince William’s wedding next year.

Because Prince William is not yet heir to the throne, his wedding to Kate Middleton is not classed as a ‘state occasion’ – and the couple feel under no pressure to fill the 2,000-strong guest list with heads of state, the Mail understands.

They are more eager to ask ordinary citizens and charity workers than foreign dignitaries and VIPs to what will be the first royal ‘people’s wedding’, courtiers suggested.

A handful of heads of state are likely to be invited in line with previous royal weddings, possibly including France’s President Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni.

"Do as I say, not as I do".

*****

Please, leave poor Obama alone and let his family enjoy the ski trip.

Remember, in a couple of years Obama and his family will once again be private citizens, and they won't be able to enjoy such pleasures at taxpayers' expense.

So please leave the Obama family alone and let them enjoy the good life as long as they can for the next two years.

Not to begrudge them their precious vacations while millions are suffering and can’t afford vacations much along with rent, food etc. I would have thought with the winter snowfall being what it has been in the northeast, they might have found plenty of good skiing more locally, this would have reduced the travel expense for her much needed vacation.

What a bargain. The rooms at the world class Spanish resort hotel Michelle luxuriated in go for $5,000 a night—and she booked sixty of them. Don’t forget they booked every room in the Taj Mahal hotel for their India junket. And he had that special, air-conditioned, one mile long tunnel built for him to use just once, while he was there; then it was torn down again.

But they’re just like the Bushes; never forget that one simple fact. /s

I have no objection to the president spending his own money for vacations for himself, his family and anyone else he wishes. Nor do I have any objection to reasonable and moderate expenditures for security and other statutorily mandated things.

However, in very lean times for the nation, when there is claimed to be a need to extend the debt limit to avoid a default, President Obama and/or his Senate colleagues say they plan to shut down the government because even more funding than the House approved last week is claimed to be needed, and after asking others to consider taking not taking expensive vacations, not eating in fancy restaurants and the like, unmitigated gall is required to do as he and his family continue to do.

Symbolism is important and showing leadership is one of the functions of a president; if President Obama's entreaties to the "little people" are to be heeded, President Obama should be first in line.

I wish I could say that President Obama should stick around the White House, attend to the business of government and at least be up to date on explosions and implosions taking place or incipient in the Middle East, Korea and elsewhere. However, I think that the less he gets involved the better. Vacations may well be the highest and best use of his time and energy.

Response: No he is not being inconsistent. Those who charge him with inconsistency either do not know American history or because of the current rules regarding Political Correctness ignore or are afraid to report the truth

What do you mean?

[. . .I expect them to milk the system full bore up to that point.]

As the Clinton’s did. Hillary visited every country that had an airfield. She and Bill were forced to return valuable items they stole when they left the White House.
