Today we celebrate a federal holiday, which is much more about giving your public servants another day off than it is to honor the names of Jefferson and Washington. They can be honored without sending the workers home.
But why in the plural? Its because of the egalitarian necessity not to judge, we suspect. After all, who are we, mere American citizens, to say one president is better than another? Lets lump em all together and celebrate the U.S. Grants and Jimmy Carters too!
Pollster Rasmussen Reports has an interesting survey on (or sort of on) point: . . .

Isn’t it to celebrate George Washington and the birthday of Abraham Lincoln, not all the presidents?
That’s what I always thought as well. Not that I have any problem with honoring Jefferson, some of the other presidents - not so much.
The sheeple did that in November 2008 and we're still living with the sorry consequences.
George Washington’s Birthday had been a federal holiday celebrated on his birthday (New Style). When Congress decided to move holidays to the closest Monday to create three-day weekends, that happened to Washington’s Birthday, but I don’t think Congress changed the intent to honor Washington. Richard Nixon called it “Presidents Day” to include Lincoln, I think, although Lincoln’s birthday had never been a federal holiday, only a state holiday in some states. After that it somehow turned into a day to honor all of the Presidents including the scoundrels and incompetents among them.
LOL. :) Particularly the current one. :)
Has Obambi changed his birthday to February yet, so he can be part of the joyful adulation?
It was my understanding Washington’s birthday and Lincoln’ were combined into President’s Day in order to make room for MLK day without actually adding another day.
The city of Tampa picked up trash today. How appropriate this WH.
I would imagine that most Americans would prefer that President’s Day be renamed “Bill Clinton Day” because he is now “President of the World.” People still believe in their bill, after all the water under the bridge because the media told them he brought a “great economy.”
Naybe we need a Disastrous Presidents Day, to be celebrated on the Monday which falls in the period from August 4 (Obama’s birthday) to August 10 (Hoover’s birthday).
Of course they could have made the third Monday in January "King-Lee-Jackson Day" to honor King and the two generals.
