Residents look at Mount Bulusan spewing ash in Sorsogon province, south of Manila, February 21, 2011. Mount Bulusan spewed a three-kilometer ash column covering several villages in the southwest, but the volcano's status remains at Alert Level 1, meaning the source of activity is hydrothermal and shallow, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said. I would consider moving my butt to a much safer distance, Lava Lamps are crazy enough. (Congrats on your good showing with the Cup board)

“Isn’t Art Bell over there somewhere?”

Art Bell is in Manila, far from the volcano, which is about 400 km to the southeast.
I am on Cebu, maybe 350 KM ssw of the volcano, and did not even hear about it until last night’s TV news.

There was a much larger eruption of another volcano in the northern Philippines, over a year ago.

I remember watching a show on the Pinatubo eruption, they knew they were in trouble when they started losing all the data feeds to their sensors - a rolling black out, coming towards their location.

One of the USGS scientists looks at the AF General and says, "General, I hope you have some jam in your pockets, because we are about to be toast!"

Really good show. Everybody made it out ok but they had to move.

No repeats, I hope.

For me it is great.
It is all in attitude, and being able to adjust to a third world country.
I was also adjusted to living in foreign countries.
I left the USA for good in 2005, and lived in central Europe.
I moved to rural Cebu in Jan. 09.

Cebu is now listed as the third best island in all of Asia, second only to Bali and Maldives.

I've noticed it every year there was a major eruption going all the way back to Mt. St. Helens. All that pulverized volcanic glass and ash, plus the sulfur and every other odd chemical they spew and circulate at high altitude, really put on a show in low angle sunlight. Throw in how spectacular the Arizona sky is anyway ....

I remember the Mount Pinatubo eruption back in 1991. I was on the USS Peleliu when we sailed into Subic Bay Naval Base and seeing it covered in huge piles of volcanic ash. Many of the buildings collapsed due to the amount of ash.
