A well-funded organization contributes money to candidates and then works with those candidates to produce favorable policies, and gets people out to protest. Is that the Kochs or the unions? Answer: It depends. Does the organization also use the government to forcibly collect dues? If so, its the latter.
To be fair, there is nothing wrong with the Times investigating the money behind the Tea Party protests in Wisconsin and elsewhere. In fact, such information should be transparent so voters can be aware of it and evaluate it. In that sense, the Times is providing a valuable service.
But perhaps the article could provide some sense of perspective. Even if the Kochs provided every penny of AFPs $40 million budget, that still is less than the $87.5 million the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees spent on the 2010 election.

I dropped in briefly at DU today, to see what the moonbats were up to. Let me tell you, the TEA party and the Koch brothers are driving them around the bend. Every fourth or fifth thread was a fantasy about the death of the TEA party or a hatefest for the Kochs.
Unhinged moonbats are an ugly sight; take it from one who knows.
McDonalds has taught us that parts matter.
What part is from the Koch brothers?
Koch brothers money is volunteer rather than mandated by force.
In fact Soros makes his money short selling.
He manufactures nothing.
He works to devalue things.
The DNC he owns mirrors his financial strategies.
I’ve met liberals who are absolutely convinced that the Koch brothers are behind the entire tea party movement, that it’s all bought and paid for. They can’t grasp the idea of an authentic grassroots movement. Truth is, despite their contributions, the tea party would have happened with or without the Koch brothers.
if those union scumbags want their union dues, make the members pay them by cash/check or credit card and see how long the union suckers take to cough up their dues.
