SALEM, Ore. (AP) -- Seven-term Democratic Rep. David Wu faced increasing pressure Wednesday to step down amid a series of bizarre revelations in recent days about his mental health, including a photo he sent to staffers during his re-election bid showing him wearing a tiger costume.

The state Republican chair and one of Oregon's largest newspapers said Wu should resign, but Wu says he has no intention of quitting.

Meh. Barney Frank and Al Franken have gotten away with worse.

All amendments and no big appropriations bills make Jack a dull Democrat.

Wu’s next Republican opponent won’t have much trouble locating a good photo to use in his ads. Toss in a few choice, well-documented quotes from his ex-staffers and Wu will quickly become “Who?”

I really don’t see a problem here. Liberalism is a mental illness. All the LIBs/DIMs are (at best) liberals and insane. So what’s new here? If anything, nobama should appoint the creep to Tiger Czar or something.

What’s pathetic, is his constituents knew he was insane, but rewarded him with a seventh term. I don’t think even republican voters are that stupid as to re-elect a lunatic seven times. But I could be wrong.

I think it’s a drunk in disguise.

Follow some other stories on him for the truth.

Frankly...I feel gypped out of a decent election. The dems knew about him, the Oregonian knew about him...but none reported it before the election.

Cornellis was a good candidate, and the best hope we’ve had in a long time.

Things might have turned out vastly different had they not protected Wu.

“Wu probably won’t resign, but it’s still possible.”

I’ve heard local politcos suggest that he fess up now, and then “retire” later so that he can spend more time with his kids.

That’s their way of saying that the dems don’t need this now...they need time to line up a new dem candidate.

“Now is the best time to have a special election.”

You are SO right!

“Now is the best time to have a special election.”

Unless, of course, the governor refuses to call one to fill the vacancy.

I had a wee chat with David last year... he has a problem. He wants to warn the folks of Oregon that 2021 is real, but he knows the PTB will whack him if he does.

So they (the PTB) will do all they can to discredite him in the mean time :^(

I think the tiger costume looks sooo cute on him. In fact, I would encourage Congressman Wu to show up for work in his fancy new tiger suit. He could show it off to colleagues and get some nice airtime on C-SPAN if he wears it on the House floor.

That's pretty run the mill for liberal Democrats. Don't get Bill Maher's tasteful photo of his "dead steve irwin" costume:

“Unless, of course, the governor refuses to call one to fill the vacancy.”

I thought that it’s a foregone conclusion that there would be a special election for Representative, but that the Senate would be appointed.

However...even better...it will fester.

It’s still the talk here, with even more pressure applied for him to resign.

Not only didn’t the Oregonian endorse him, even though they kept quiet about his “episodes”, they have called for him to resign, as has the Eugene Register-Guard, and the Astoria paper which is in this district.

Cornellis issued a reply today saying that he’s keeping an open mind about running.

Please...let this defeated one who lives in Oregon have a moment of happiness? lol

I’m just teasing you. ;o)
