Two Fayetteville police officers were injured after a fight at IHOP in Fayetteville.
Police said officers responded to the business before 3 a.m. Wednesday after employees called about an intoxicated customer.
Officers attempted to arrest Hiram Graham, 35, of Fayetteville. Officers applied one handcuff before Hiram yanked his arm away and tucked it into his torso. Police attempted to use a taser, but it didn't work properly.
Shortly after, Hiram's brother, Joemo Graham, 33, began a physical fight with an officer. Police attempted to deploy another taser.
Hiram was able to grab an officer's baton. According to police reports, Hiram struck an officer repeatedly on the head, spine, torso, and extremities. The officer suffered an eight-inch gash to the top of her head. She also had a cut on her lip and multiple bruises. Another officer received minor injuries during the incident.
A witness grabbed Hiram's arm, stopping him from hitting the officer. The officer took out her gun and threatened to shoot Hiram. At this point, police were able to arrest the Graham brothers.
Hiram is charged with attempted capital murder, aggravated assault, battery 2nd degree, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and public intoxication. Police say use of a police baton is considered lethal force when it's used to hit the head and spine.
Joemo is charged with battery 2nd degree and hindering apprehension. Hiram and Joemo were taken to the Washington County Detention Center.
The officer hit by the baton was taken to a local hospital. She had a large, open injury to her head, which required multiple staples to close. She also received stitches on her chin. The second officer was treated for cuts, scrapes, and bruises. Both officers were treated and released.
Aren't those things plastic?
No more IHOPs, Dennys, or Shoneys for me until these crime waves ends!
Moejoe....would have been cooler.
I thought they were glass vacuum bottles in plastic cases.
Three in the morning. IHOP.
Oh, I don’t know.
You look at those photo’s and the eye’s say no remorse, no fear...just F-U.
Some people are more equal then others.
This is the danger when you have Police Officers not POLICEMEN
For a badly handled, common post bar brawl?
Only three medals were given out in the entire Revolutionary war. US Grant, from cashiered Captain to Five Star, no awards at all.
Back then the thing itself, your life itself, was considered the real reward. Now un educated, credentialed dolts think a trinket has some special meaning.
beating up a woman cop.....what big men they are...
'Next! Bring up that wheelchair recruit!"
Gee, I hope I didn't hurt her. I'm so very very sorry! I don't know what got into me! This is so unlike me. These are trained wonderful law enforcement officers and they deserve nothing but respect!
|I am filled with nothing but remorse and shame! Officers of the law are our friends, and for me to injure this officer HORRIFIES me in retrospect. Please, tell the families how sorry I am!|
I was being VERY sarcastic....sorry I didn’t /s it.
He doesn’t care. Really. He’s just moving from one part of tax supported, the welfare system to the other.
Because, in theory, a policewoman is supposed to be as physically qualified for the job as a male officer; and as such, receives equal pay.
Just another excuse to put a brother in jail.
No, but see what happens when you have women trying to do men's jobs?
Switch to Golden Corral. Most of the patrons there are too fat or heart-diseased to fight.
What is attempted capital murder if there is no murder?? Where does the "capital" come into play? Aggravated assault? Sure. Attempted murder? Sure. But surely they will not try to pin capital charges on these oafs when no murder took place.
Or is this just your typical, lazy reporter?
