In the news: Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie on Wednesday signed into law a bill that will legalize civil unions for same-sex couples in the Aloha State. Meanwhile, President Barack Obama has ordered the Justice Department to stop defending the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act, which defines marriage for federal purposes as only between a man and woman, according to a statement Wednesday from Attorney General Eric Holder.

ONLY ON THE BLOG: Answering today’s OFF-SET questions is Jimmy LaSalvia, Executive Director of GOProud, the only national organization representing gay conservatives and their allies.

According to its mission statement, “GOProud is committed to a traditional conservative agenda that emphasizes limited government, individual liberty, free markets and a confident foreign policy. GOProud promotes our traditional conservative agenda by influencing politics and policy at the federal level.”

I am constantly astounded by the number of FReepers who don't want gays to vote Republican. There are many reasons why they should, and it's possible to convince many to do so, if you can interact with them calmly, logically, and without bigotry.

Nobody objects to them voting Republican. What planet are you from?

The whole gay movement when it first came out had as its rallying cry, *What we do in the privacy of our own bedrooms is nobody's business.*

From that moment on, they've made it our business. We are sick of them shoving this in our faces at every turn, demanding special privileges, and that it be accepted as normal.

It is not and never will be and we will not ever accept it as normal and allow special privileges to come with sexual preference.

If they don't like the reaction they're getting, it's because THEY are the ones who are not backing off. They can't be constantly be provoking others and then complain about the reaction.

As far as bigotry, go tell them as well to knock it off. You object to people calling them *faggots*. Then don't be a hypocrite and not object to them contemptuously calling us *breeders*.

You're stealth support of the homosexual agenda will not fly here. Sexual perversion is NOT normal and should not have special rights and protections by law.

I really struck a nerve, didn't I?

No, not at all. You made a comment, and I disagreed with it. That's not "striking a nerve". Don't be like liberals and mischaracterize the tone of contrary opinions.

I’m calling you out on a bold faced lie. Where did I ever once post that I did not want gays to vote Republican. Just one time.

One of the dirty little secrets about Mary Matalin was that she was actively dating James Caraville DURING HIS CAMPAIGN AGAINST BUSH I...WHILE SHE WAS OPPOSITE CAMPAIGN HEAD.

This was well known amidst the campaign staff and not a little dispiriting...

She is simply not trustworthy as any form of conservative, no matter how whiny she gets against her husband.

I realize I’m too late to ask you when you can answer, but you still didn’t answer properly. Which comments are examples of bigotry?

Me calling the homosexual agenda the “homo-nazi” agenda? It’s true, read “The Pink Swastika”!
